Removing light rust from a gun barrel

Noticed that I've got some very light rust on one of my shotgun barrels and I'm wondering whats the best way to remove it? I thought about steel wool but wasn't sure if it would take the blueing along with the rust.

0000 steel wool with oil.

Make SURE it is 0000 no less (not 0, 00, 000)

I'm with Dan , thats what we use MOST all the time, yes, there is at times need for something less aggresive, like bronze/brass wool,FINE, ,same way to do it use oil, I prefer any of the rust fighting type oils, then re oil with a good gun oil afterwards......................
