My Cousin (she was like a Sister when we were younger) drove up from Texas to visit and see some other folks we went to school with. Sitting around at the Memorial Day parade talking with others I hadn't seen for years about where we'd been and what we'd done since graduation, I realized just how long ago that had been. Here are 1/2 dozen old folks (I was the only man in the group) talking about off spring who were old enough to retire. I got a late start compared to the others some of whom have Grandkids almost as old as my youngest.
Anyhoo, I suddenly realized that I've worked for the Federal government for 36 of the past 38 years not counting military time. I was "retired" during 2009 & 2010 and rehired exactly 2 years to the day after retiring. After spending 10 years taking crap and being jerked around as the low man in the new job, I finally reached the spot I was hoping for just in time to get face slapped by the KungFlu shutdown. I was hoping/planning for 3-5 more years in a good spot before selecting my replacement and stepping down but not sure I can handle that long. Getting disenchanted with the agency's inner workings and policies during the pandemic.

Good luck! Remember the lyrics of the “ Gambler” by Glenn Campbell. “You got to know
When to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
Know when to run
You never count your money

When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done”.
