Redhawk moonclips

I just bought an 8 shot .357 Redhawk with moonclips.

It is very clean. It functions fine without the moonclips, but won’t close with the moonclips.

I’m thinking it needs a trip to Ruger. Unless someone has any suggestions.

I think they are OEM but measure.025” thick. Not the .032 on TK’s listing.

The ones on Shop Ruger are .025.

Ruger wouldn’t send a call tag. So shipping was on my dime.

Was debating fixing it at all, 8 long .357’s don’t drop in to the cylinder as easy as you’d think. And I already have speed loaders.

I pulled it all apart, removed some machining burrs from under the star. Lubed and reassembled it seems ok now.

My Redhawk 45 Colt/45 Auto the cylinder was cut uneven for the moon clips and would not close when I tried to use the clips.

Check the depth, open the cylinder and set one of the moon clips on and see if it's even all the way around. My guess is it is not.

When I had my concerns with the 8 shot Redhawk Ruger sent me 2 sets of moon clips (there were none with the NIB Redhawk). Tried them and they worked perfectly. Completely happy with it now.

When I shipped it back to Ruger the box was signed for and the revolver somehow got lost at the facility. Ruger being the upstanding company it is replaced it with a new one. The new one they sent feels like it had some trigger work done it's one of the smoothest Ruger factory triggers I own.

Yes mine was cut even, but not deep enough. There were also burrs under the extractor.
