New here. This is my first post outside of the New Members area. I would like some advice / input on two Rugers I want to purchase. I have done a ton of looking around the NET and getting as much knowledge on these types of revolvers as I can. Bottom line is like everything on the NET the information is all over the place. I am not sure of the rules, etc. on asking this type of question and do not want to break any rules. Let me know if this is something I can post up and get your opinion on price, condition, etc. Not sure I can upload pictures yet. Some forums have a minimum post count needed prior to posting.

Welcome to the forum

Post away and yes you should be able to post pics

Rules here are pretty basic …. These are in Lounge

Oh BTW …. Redhawks are better. Some here will disagree. :ROFLMAO:

I have the opportunity to get both of these. I will give you as much information I have on them at this time. Main question is what do you think these should sell for? I already have my opinion that I will share that later as not to sway any information you can give me on the price given to me to buy them.

Redhawk
Not sure of model or year.
.44 Magnum
Gun only. No box or paperwork. Comes with a soft side handgun zipper case.

Super Blackhawk
I think it is a 1976.
.44 Magnum
Gun, Holster and 70 rounds of ammo. No box or paperwork.

Just need input on what would be a good price on these. Then I would like to talk about condition, availability, Etc. Although condition would be a big part of the value. Just jump in with any information you have.

Thanks for your time!
JR

Completed auctions on places like Gun Broker is really the best indicator on actual prices. Not expired auctions …. Completed so you see what they actually SOLD for.

You can even use the "Search" feature here for more threads and info. Maybe some sold here in Classifieds.

all depends on just where , and who is selling,, saw them at this past weekends show, the Redhawks in 44 were in the $750, 800 range, less if blued,,and the Supers anywhere from $900 to $1100 and those had a scope on them,,,it was a REAL handful..the Super Blackhawks were $500 to $800 , even had seen a U.S. Arms 44 stainless 7 1/2 inch, the guy wanted $500 and I "almost" pulled the trigger but passed,,,was some good deals to be found, had ,but was not looking to buy this close to the holidays, and hunting season is about over here........;)

That is exactly what I have done. I always look up an actual SOLD price and disregard the ASKING price. I was just looking around here in the classifieds to see what has been selling.

That is about what I have been seeing on GB.
What's the seller asking for them?
I try to gently remind folks I can't be a buyer and seller BOTH …..
Redhawk - $875
Super Blackhawk, with ammo and holster belt - $750

Not sure if those prices are at the top of the value cap. The Super Blackhawk does appear to have some "wear and tear" on it. That would affect the price for sure, just not sure how much or what a fair price in this condition would be. Not an issue for me if I can get it at the right price. I am looking for the SBH to carry out and about on the property. It will be used and not just put up.

The Redhawk 44mag 5.5" is a very popular but also quite common configuration.
I would be a buyer at $650 and might go to 700.

The New model Super BH 7.5" is THE most common variation and they're basically avilable anywhere/everywhere.
Nothing special about that one, so....about $550-600 plus whatever value you put on the ammo (difficult to price without knowing what it is). To me, used leather isn't worth much.

Thanks! That helps me out tremendously. I will just walk away from these. It is a "friend" and I don't want to start haggling or get into the "not worth that much" conversation. I was right there with you on these prices. Thought $600-$650 would be a deal on the Redhawk and $600 for the Blackhawk and all the extras. Guess I will have to keep looking around and hope to run across a deal.

I notice that the longer barrel version go for less. I picked up a stainless redhawk 7.5 at my local sportsman's and it was used without a box or original grip and it was priced at $599. There are 7.5 in super Blackhawk's that look really clean on gunbroker with white grips and no box for $499.

There is a nice SBH in the classified section on another forum that looks really clean for $600 and it's got the bisley grip which I much prefer. I do like the dragoon grips.

I like deals though. I would shoot for $600 or less for a SBH that's not a collectible version. For SRHs I'd say under $700-$725ish.

Just me.

Just for grins and giggles I did a sold price search. Yeah, your prices may be a bit high, but not off the planet high.

No sense in arguing, make a 1200-1300 offer and see what he says. If you have held them in your hands and see the condition (assuming they are pristine), that says a lot.

Two phrases come to mind: "I didn't pay too much I paid too early"......"I wish I didn't let them get away"........

I paid $140 for my Blackhawk. It was too much then, but boy did I get a deal! The same time period I let a 1970 era Colt Gold Cup National Match get away because I thought $200 was too much.

Thanks for all the replies. While I have an "audience" here are there any special types, models, years, etc. that are worth more in the SBH and RH revolver world? I see them sell for prices all around the gambit and really don't know why. If I have to wait I would rather spend the money on a SBH or RH that has some value due to demand. Just not sure what to look for and there are so many variations it is mind blowing.

The RH looks to be in good condition. The SBH, however, looks to be well "used". I may throw a grand out there and see if it sticks to the wall.

Well for BH and SBH you can start with OM and NM.........this might get long but fun to read......🍿
