Red dot fever EDIT UPDATE 5/22

So I'm looking at 'em, the first time I bought one was an Aimpoint which I used for over 20 years and there weren't many choices. That one got away from me on a particular XP100-.308 that a buddy talked me out of somehow.

The last one was a Burris FastFireII which I have come to grudgingly put up with but have had a couple features I don't care for.

Looking for something in 'reflex' size that can be moved from the 10/22 to others as needed.

Drawn to a EOTech OPMOD but the price is a deal breaker. Otherwise seems like a decent choice.

Choices/names/brands/comments/solicited before it's too late.

I have a couple of Bushnel TRS-25 red dots and like them. The are a tube style but smaller in size than most. They have held up on a 4" 357 and a Mossberg 500 with slugs. Thay go for under a hundred bucks.

Just purchased Cmore RTS 7MOA sight from Cals Sporting Armory. Great sight and price and I have many. Perfect pistol size and easy to mount and zero. The only problem I have with red dot sights is my 64 year old eyes. If the sights don't have adjustable brightness, the dots are not crisp. The only 2 adjustable sights I know are EoTech and Aimpoint Micro, which have both worked well for me, but pricey. :D

Just range-fired the new replaced version of the photo I posted before:

At least I can get all reticles to get 'near' the bulls eye at 25 yards.

Not sure how well this will work for me. I'm used to getting very precise groups using this rifle and a 6x24 target scope....but this will be a new game to try.

Quality of scope has proven defective on BOTH units!!!

First one returned due to wandering 4th reticle.
Second one returned due to failure to maintain visible image on target, even with NEW batteries!

Besides it also had a wandering POI even though the 4th reticle was as accurate as the others.

This Target 10/22 has been used with a 6-24x44 scope, to make sub-1" group of 25 shots, at 50 yards, from the bipod.

With this second red-dot, I was unable to even GET the POI even IN the center of the bull, with over 200 shots from the bench.

Had hoped a different day would make results improve. No such luck.

Returned to vendor who gave me a 'store credit' for the full purchase price.

The Chinese "Sight Mark" is officially on my B list.

Beware your choices, and good luck. I'll be seeking something better.
