Just purchased a NiB Ruger 10/22 w/Mannlicher stock. I've owned and maintained my own 10/22s for years. However, after removing the screw holding the stock to the receiver and centering the safety the receiver/barrel assembly will not lift out. The front swivel mounts below the barrel and the front under-collar is simply decorative and does not attach to the barrel in any way. I'm stumped and looking for answers. Anyone? James1

Decorative or not, the metal nose piece/under collar must be removed before you attempt to lift the receiver out of the stock. If you do not, you risk breaking the wood around the collar.

Tip slides forward to remove. Unscrew the small wood screw then gently tap the fore end tip forward. I usually wrap a small flat screwdriver in electrical tape to catch the edge of the tip to tap it off. Some will slide right off others will need some gentle yet forceful hammering.
