I carry a Lc9 and want to get a new pistol... I am wanting to carry the new pistol I want one with a bit more punch. (fact I just want a new big gun) I think I want a P345 but the Sr40c has caught my eye as well. which one guys? Yes in a perfect world I'd say both but my world is not perfect. So if you own one or both could you give me the pro's and con's? Thanks to all be safe! BTW I the my Lc9 and have no issue with it.

I would have to say the SR40c would give you easier concealed carry due to its smaller size. The P345 does have more punch. However the .40 S&W ammo is less expensive so it will cost you a lot less at the range. Also NIB at a LGS the SR40c is less expensive than the P345. So if on a budget I would say the SR40c is the way to go. Next year you can always buy the P345. I am trying to decide myself what my next caliber will be... .357 revolver, LC9, or P345. I am thinking I will wait on a 45 to see if ruger comes out with a SR45 or SR45c.

P.S. my SR40c has 1100 rounds through it with out any problems.

This is an easy question to answer. Forget both choices and go with the Ruger GP100 in .357 magnum!

SR40C is smaller and lighter. It will be more comfortable to conceal, so you'll probably be more likely to carry it. Obviously lacking the caliper of of the P345, but at least you get an extra round.

My vote goes to the SR40c for the same reasons listed above. I have a SR9c and love it.

The SRc's are nice guns to carry.

I have no experience with any of those... but personally if I was going to step up from 9mm, I'd just go past the 40 and get to 45acp in one form or another.

I mostly concur with Blume357. The feel totally comfortable carrying a 9mm for protection, but if I didn't, the 40 wouldn't make me feel much better. I would go up to a 12g riot gun!

I prefer the SR9c to the LC9 since I can carry a 17 round magazine. In real life people rarely stop the attack after one shot, particularly since you are likely to be aiming at the chest and their are lots of places to hit someone in the chest and have it go right through. I would much rather have the stopping power of 17 rounds versus 8 regardless of the caliber. On the other hand, having the LC9 with you (or my choice, the LCP) is a lot better than having the 44 Magnum in the gun safe.

People who have seen me shoot would probably argue that I need the stopping power of 34 rounds, since 30+ of them would have probablybeen "flyers" <grin>

Some of my opinion has to do with economics.... you can get kind of bogged down with ammo if not careful.... especially if you start storing the stuff up....

Some folks want to put down the 9mm for its 'stopping power' looking at a 9mm as if it is a single shot handgun.... yes, one round might not stop a 250lb doped up bad guy... but I bet 10 or 15 would.

Thanks economics has a lot to do with my next purchase.... Like I said I am new to pistols but like them more than my shotguns almost.... I like to carry and just want another gun to be honest.... So maybe a 40 now and a 45 later I always have my trusty super black eagle near me and if you ask the ducks I am not to shabby with the iron.. But as I tell my 13 year old Dad misses alot but son just keep pulling the trigger! Duck season is only 60 days here.
But cost of ammo is an issue and I do like storeing it never know.......

I have a P345 and it's a large frame weapon that is not that comfortable to carry. I've not handled an SR40C but I do own an S&W M&P 40C (yeah, I know that it's bad karma to talk about S&W here!) and given a choice it would be the 40c all the way. Lighter, more comfortable to carry and to shoot. YMMV but that's my view.

I have no real use for a .40. I'd go with a 9mm personally, but if a larger caliber is wanted in a larger gun, just get a .45ACP.
