I think I know the answer, but since I'm not as up to date on the NM's, I figured I'd ask for a definitive answer.

Has the NM Super Blackhawk ever shipped with the "cheese grater" type plastic grips?

I have a friend who has asked, as he has a NM he just traded into.

Thanks,
From all I could find, the SBH wasn't offered with the cheese graters. I just wanted to see if anybody else could prove me wrong.

I just purchased a new model .38/.357/9mm convertible and it came with the black plastic "cheese grader" grips. Which of course I replaced. The gun is going back to Ruger because the finish on 9mm cylinder needs some work. In fact when I compared it to my other NM convertible (.45LC/.45 ACP) the bluing just isn't as good. Must be cutting back on the quality.....

Chief, I understand your feelings. Sometimes the time it takes to truly polish a gun to where the blueing looks "right" doesn't happen.
I know the cheese graters came on Blackhawks & Vaquero's. I just had not seen any on a Super, or even heard of a set on a Super. But a friend asked as he THOUGHT he might like a set. I talked him out of it quite easily.

Interesting stuff, the .45 Colt/.45 ACP convertible according to the serial number was made in 1978 and the new in the gray box .38/.357/9mm convertible I just purchased was made according to the serial number in 2009. Hmmm, kinda makes you wonder how long some of these guns hang around before being sold. I've spent a lot of money at this particular gun shop and they swear that the gun is new.....

Yes, but those aren't Super Blackhawks...
