Question for 77/22 owners

Question for 77/22 hornet owners. I have a 77/22 hornet on order and it should be here soon, will a 42 mm scope fit with std rings? I am wanting to order a scope and need to know if I will need tall rings.

Depends on which rings the new models come with... the older guns came with #4 (medium) rings and a 42mm objective might be pushing it. My 77/357 came with #5 (high) rings and they would work fine.

Depends on length of scope too. I did have a 42mm scope on my M77/22 with med rings and it fit fine, I also used a 40mm scope with AO on my M77 Mark II with med rings and it too worked with the med rings. The 40mm scope had a thicker AO ring that gave it's outside dia at leat that of 42mm. But it was very close.
