I haven't seen one of these in what seems to be 10 years, but I have a FFL friend that has all the parts.

He has a Colt Python barrel and a Security Six.

Anyone know of a smith in your area that is willing to take on such a job? Like I mentioned - he is a Nashville FFL holder wanting some advice/help and can easily ship to anywhere in the US.

that is a thing that has kind of passed.............. Not really any point in it. I saw one on GunBroker within the last week or so, and it had no bids.....

I would say to check with any of the standard revolver smiths. You have to recut the thread on the Colt barrel and then it sort of holds OK. Try Cylinder and Slide Shop. I have seen some nice work come out of there.

Good luck

I think these people used to do "Cougar" conversions:

If they don't still, maybe they could point you in the right direction.

To each his own I guess but I always found the Smolts, Cougars, etc... to be kinda cheezy. If you want a Python barrel just get a Python, don't ruin a good Security Six.

The thing is, a Python has a much larger grip frame than, say, a Smith K (or even a Smith N, believe it or not). And the Smith action is inherently smoother than all but the best tuned Pythons, and the tune will last longer. The accurate Python barrel on the right-sized Smith frame makes sense for some shooters in some shooting situations.

I had Milton Morrison build me a smolt about 20 years ago and it is wonderful. Having a cougar to match would really be cool
