Procedure on 1-3-23

I have to be at Audie Murphy VA hospital at 0530 Tuesday for an op on the lower appendage which should make it easier to void the bladder.

I'm not Covid vaccinated and paranoid they might "hold that against me" in some way,shape or form.

Will I wake up vaccinated or with a less than 100% oper. result ?

I just had open heart surgery (CABG X 5) a few months ago + a cardiac device installed 2 months later,
in the hospital for 5 weeks and the subject never came up.
Everyone BUT the patients wore masks.

Vaccinating you would serve no purpose at this point, since that’s not how vaccines work.

Then unless you were asymptomatic and gave critically ill patients covid and they died or worse because of your by god given right to exercise your freedom at whatever the cost to you or others, I would feel bad. Hey that’s cool Right!

OR

For whatever reason you have not gotten vaccinated for covid and you get the added bonus of getting your TURP procedure for your bladder gig and contract the covid virus as a nosocomial infection free of charge…. I would be paranoid since there is an uptick in covid incidence, but that’s just me. If you get covid, just walk it off like everyone else!

I thought your vaccination status is covered in preop history. I have heard of people being turned away for putting medical staff at added risk, but everyone is gowned up in the surgery suite and so on but in the last few years, all this talk of viruses and I have yet to see one virus…..it all a hoax… you’ll be fine! Good luck!

BadMatrix mentioned a TURP... your choice, but if that's what they intend to do, ask if they can do a HoLEP instead. It's a newer procedure, less bleeding and faster healing. According to the Mayo Clinic website, it's the new "Gold Standard" for treating BPH.

I don't think I have heard from 'graygun' in a long time. Hang in there guy and you will be draining with the best of them. I had a procedure done a few years ago and it really worked.

People who have been vaccinated catch & spread Covid too. Nothing as stupid as Joe Biden screaming that the unvaccinated are killing people. Then he after all the shots he's had caught Covid. About all a person can do if they realize they have it try to stay away from others. The vaccine might maybe keep one from getting as sick but it does not stop one from contracting or spreading the disease. Not much of a vaccine.

Thanks for the replies. I had covid in September. It's been over 90 days since I tested negative and they will test me when I get there,anyway.

My friend in Satelite Bch, fl got covid last week from holiday get together, but he has symptoms of a bad upper respiratory cold , sore throat no fever. HE WAS VACCINATED. Covid affects people differently. Before people realized the benefits of the vaccine, one million people died from complications from covid in the united states. …….just saying.

Welcome to the TURBT club.... had mine last year and I'm still unvaxed. Going in on the 9th for bladder stones... getting old isn't for sissies. Pre-op wants a covid test 5 days before and then quarantine until the surgery. I'm sure every hospital has their own protocol.

Doing as well as expected as far as I can tell. Some blood and minor pain while voiding while slight incontinence seems to be lessening.

Care and food were good.
