I'm having the same problem with internet explorer. When I click on something, even if it's to back up a page, internet explorer stops. It's getting frustrating.

Which version of IE? They recently dropped support for versions tailored to versions linked to Windows 7 and earlier. I had to have my Win7 desktop tricked up to run the current version on my older OS.
Mine did exactly what you described before he fixed it - every time I tried to open anything, IE stopped working.

I'm not sure of the version but it's for my Windows 7. I'd hate have to have to update to Windows 10. Give me an idea. Do I need to take it to the geek squad? Or is it too late?

IE is pretty much a dead horse. Firefox, Mozilla or Chrome are better. It will take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the changes in navigation, but it's worth it.
I stuck with IE for quite a while, but finally moved on when I had the same problems. Not worth the frustration.

I downloaded Chrome and it told me there is no internet connection. Did I screw it up?
I dumped IE two years ago and went with Mozilla Firefox and never looked back. I also switched my start (home) page to Start.me.com. No pop-ups, no ads, just what I choose to look at.

Here's a fix it site that offers several solutions for that particular problem. It seems to be something in your settings. I haven't had this problem with mine so I'm probably not that much help. Maybe one of our computer guru's can help.Bear Paw Jack said:

Not sure you know yet that IE is your problem. May be your internet service provider, your router, a virus ...... just too many variables at this point.

About 8 years ago my wife was constantly being plagued with viruses that slowed down her computer to the point of it being unusable.
She was using IE (I don't know the version). Seriously, she had 7 (SEVEN) different virus detection packages and none were able to stop or even detect the viruses.
We got her a new computer, loaded Chrome, and she has not had a single issue since....and she runs no virus protection software. Chrome does all she needs. Maybe luck? I don't know, but count us as two confirmed Chrome users. I have also been using Chrome since then with zero issues.

Google Chrome is far better as they continue to update their system and puts a huge amount of money into keeping it that way (anti-virus/hacker proof)

Trying shutting down and rebooting your computer BUT keep in mind IE7 no longer has any support, no money keeping it running smooth etc...
Same as MS XP, 7, 8 there in NO IE support, no one to call as they have been abandoned

This is important for me. For others maybe not so much.
Anything with the name google on it will track every stroke of your computer. For me this is a non starter.

Download and install Mozilla Firefox. It is so far superior to IE there is no contest. Been using it for years with no problems like you describe.

Seems like it started in the last 2-3 weeks. I haven't changed anything and haven't updated IE lately. I wouldn't even know how.

BPJ, I gave up on IE a long time ago and went to Google Chrome. Microsoft tried to discontinue support for MS7 three times but big companies wouldn't switch to MS10. Go to Chrome (free dowload) and you won't have any more problems. Sure, they track everything you do (according to the news), but with so many users its doubtful that they will find you. :mrgreen:

Shutting down the computer got rid of it and a subsequent scan showed no malware or viruses on my computer, plus Edge and IE still ran find with no issues.
