Got 'hooked' via an internet add

This is some doctor who it seems knows it all about what is causing us old folks to have problems... I made it through his infernal net video and basically the solution was some special olive oil from Morocco that has a lot of some special chemical in it... so I order a bottle for 50 bucks and you drink a table spoon a day and in a week you will be young again.... I have to admit I have not done that.... I did take a table spoon two days ago and have figured out the only way they could sell this stuff is this way... I swear it taste worse than motor oil. Worse oil oil I have ever tasted and we cook with the stuff every day.....

of course now that I bought something from 'him' I get an email or two a day wanting me to buy some other product to do something to make me better... I looked at one of those today and it had this in the email:

" Your body produces fewer and fewer “youth messages” as you age."

When I read that I thought; and that is actually a good thing.. most of the messages my body sent me in my youth only led me into trouble....

Yep, read up on a miracle cure the other day which referenced a multi year study of a few thousand patients in a double blind study yada yada.....
Upshot was when I read the study in detail it said they had tested all these people at a specific dose age which was like 10% of the dosage being sold and they had found a statistically insignificant improvement in the condition. I guess they wanted us to believe that increasing the dose would magically make this product 10 times more effective. Snake oil for the desperate unfortunately sells well in 2026 just like it did in 1889.

I remember I was a kid you could get Paregoric at the local drug store. That stuff cured moles, colds, sore a holes, and a pimple on your due dad. Didn't need any Internet doc to prescribe it either.

When I was an infant the doctor prescribed Coke syrup. You bought it at the pharmacy in 4 oz bottles. All the sugar all the caffeine not much water no bubbles. Literally concentrated Coca Cola. To an infant.

I also heard of an infant formula from the 1950s that was used instead of mothers milk. The main ingredient was Karo Syrup.

I see those a lot on You Tube. The weight loss gelatin fix that big Pharma is going to take down, the gas mileage device that big oil is going to take down, the special calcium from a special Okinawan mine and on and on. I have seen the olive oil guy. What is a different twist on that is olive oil is beneficial but his is the only one that works. I have seen that with a lot of things too. My vitamins are made from the purest vitamins grown in xxx valley. When people have trouble or pain and a solution is before them the temptation to try it is great. I wouldn't feel stupid if I were you. . There probably is some value in the olive oil, better than any other, who knows.
