i bought a vaquero the other day and it has a problem. when I spin the cylinder everything is fine...when I spin the cylinder with it loaded the rim of the ammo catches on the bottom of the loading gate latch or same thing happens when I cock the hammer to shoot it & the cylinder spins. It's a 44 mag & judging by the serial number it was made in 1994. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can be about this matter.

First thing that I would check is to see if it does it with all rounds.

If it is reloaded ammo, sometimes the rims can get boogered up a little and rub. If you have some new ammo, give it a try.

This is just a suggestion as I have seen it happen before.

lineman23,

I would check the gate detent spring - maybe it's not properly aligned on the bottom of the loading gate.

If it's sticking out slightly, it might be catching the cartridge rims...

I think this advice is spot on. If the spring is protruding into the cylinder window remove the cylinder and you can gently put it back in place with a small screwdriver.

I think it is the gate detent spring catching the rims of the ammo...I have pushed on it with a screwdriver but it dosn't seem to want to stay in place when I push it back...I don't know..I might just have to make a trip to the local gunsmith for this one.

I had that issue with a new flattop. I replaced the spring and it was fine. The spring leg could have been bent at a little more of an angle also to cure the problem.
