Crockpot is simmering. Diced bacon, big potato chunks, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, evaporated milk, chicken broth and butter browned diced onions. Let it simmer on high for 3 hours turn it down to low for another several hours then serve piping hot with toast and a green vegetable (yet to be determined) side. Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm it's SO good. Don't tell our doctors. Don.

Yum. Clam chowder, corn chowder, both with huge chunks of potato and bacon bits, are the usual fare here... but what you're talking about is also grand comfort food born of cold weather necessity. Yummmmmmmmmmm

Raining here now, possible mix of rain or snow & sleet and maybe ice on the roads by morning. Cooking steaks & pork chops on the grill (under the carport) tonight. Steaks are for tonight, pork chops are for tomorrow night.

Got a mess of chili simmering here in the great white north. Getting highs in the teens this week.

Ham and bean soup simmering on the stove now in sunny beautiful Valley Forge, Pa. Currently 31 degrees with 2'' of snow on the ground. Our first this season.

Last night, I made corn chowder with spiral ham. In this global warming area, its chowder weather. greg

It's funny,, that so many of us put on a soup of sorts when bad weather hits. For me,, I whipped up a gumbo here.

Funny, we're expecting 6 - SIX - inches of rain on the valley floor over the next two days, TWELVE inches of rain in the foothills and anywhere from 2 to 12 feet of snow above 8000 feet. So, I stopped in the store and bought the fixings for crock pot beef stew, biscuits and brownies just in case the many creeks around the ranch rise and flood. Not worried about the power going out, but I'm prepared for that, too. I made chili verde two weeks ago, cheddar potato soup (with bacon, of course!) last week, so it's stew for the next couple of days.

Like any other species of animal, us two legged type know instinctively what to do when the weather acts up. Blankets, firewood, a good assortment of DVDs and CDs, rib sticking heartwarming vittles and snuggle time with mama. The older I get, the more I enjoy winter.

Bon Apetite!, mis amigos y amigas! (Did I just mix French with Spanish?)

We had vegetable venison soup. Good and warm. Temps outside below freezing with rain and sleet. Just to our north the lucky devils got snow ( yep, it does make a difference ). Can't get to the lease tomorrow morning due to iced roads so no deer hunting for me till Sunday evening

Well it's going to be in the mid 20s tonight so a time for some heat Louisiana Style. Louisiana-Style Chicken, Sausage & Shrimp Skillet
All of the soups are great and I have a favorite for baked potato soup, buttttttttttt Bring on the rice.

If that is the case. The gumbo isn't being made to the high standards it deserves. It isn't just a delight it is a way of life and deserves it's own reverence :D :D :D :D

Potato and bacon soup or a good clam chowder with lots of clams. That's what time of year this is.
