Polished hammers

looks nice, some folks like the "contrast" ,some folks call that a "pinto" gun or 'effect"...whatever floats ones boat....................
to answer the above question, Yes, it affects the value of the gun obviously,BUT its not something that cannot be put back into original condition................

Yes it would affect the value if these were otherwise original, but the Single Six has been back to the factory for two new cylinders, and the Flattop has been drilled for scope use at some time in its past, so these are just shooters anyway.

May as well doll them up for my apprecitation! 8)

Also, the hammers have been slightly relieved on their sides (with needle files) to provide clearence between them and their slot in the cylinder frame...(no more scratches).

So even though I could sand them with about #400 grit sandpaper to restore original appearence, they would be of no true use to a collector.

Oh well, they're mine!

The frames are polished aluminum, the rest of the parts, including the ROA action screws, are stainless.

MAN! It's hard to get decent pictures with this camera!

Nice, what method and material did you use to get that high level of polish? Grip frame, screws and ERH look polished as well. Nice looking gun, but if you like it, that's all that matters. Guns are like women... if you think she's ugly, keep her in the kitchen!

Simple Answer: Various grits of wet/dry sandpaper, and time in front of the T.V. set, followed by Mothers mag. wheel polish.

Yes, all the screws are stainless, chucked them in a drill and had at it!

ERH is polished aluminum as well; so as to clean up that, and the grip frame, of any old (worn & scratched) original black finish, that is usually in that condition on a revolver of that age.

A couple of stainless parts and screws from the Ruger factory, and some time is all it takes...not a big investment of cash.

A positive response from you makes me feel good because I've seen what you can do to a SA, from some of your pictures...WOW! 8)

Actually, I really wouldn't mind the brushed finish on stock hammers...if they wouldn't get scratched from being worked.

Besides, this gun is not exactly stock, or in collector condition...but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy them just the same!

So why the heck couldn't the members of that other forum respond?

Guess it doesn't matter now...you guys are COOL! 8)

Oh, and BTW, if you think polishing a frame and a ERH would be a job, try polishing one of these babies with sandpaper! :shock:

Yea it was worth it to me, but I mainly just wanted to show you guys that a frame & ERH really isn't that hard to do.

Wanna see others that I did in the past...you do?...oh goody!

I've done others as well, but I don't have pics.

Wish you could see how shiny they look in real life.

Something real close to chrome plating, only better.

Your holster and hands will help keep SA grip frames and ERH polished, instead of helping to wear off the original finish.

OK I'm just making excuses to be cheap! :lol:

Polished Redhawk 44 Mag after shortening barrel from 5 1/2" to 4 1/2"(removed instruction manual but left Ruger address and Reg mark in circle):

Montado; factory polish left a lot to be desired

Old Model lightweight polished out
