The recent "outrage" against the Confederate flag, and anything related to Southern heritage is under attack.
They are wanting to move Confederate bodies (and their families) out of graveyards.
They are wanting all Confederate monuments taken down & moved.
They want all items displaying any form of the "Stars & Bars" to be changed or removed, (think some state flags.)
Heck, even here in Trashville, eerrr,,,, Asheville, NC they want the Vance monument torn down. He was a former slave owner AND a governor.

These are just a few of the stupid ideas being done all around us because "it offends some people."

Well, I am sure that there are things in public that offends each & every person in this country.

That said, it is downright scary that they have been able to get such hysteria raised over a photo of a deranged killer with items in a posed picture.

If we allow all this to continue, where does it stop?
Will we stand up & stop them when they want "Old Glory" removed?
We didn't stand up & stop them when they stopped saying the Pledge of Allegiance in school.
Will we stand up & stop them when they declare any form of worship they deem undesirable be stopped?
We didn't stand up & stop them when they took prayer out of schools.

Will we stand up & stop them when they demand we turn in our guns? (Think England or Australia.)
We didn't stop them when they forced some people in some states to register firearms, or go through a law enforcement division to ask permission to own a gun.

People, it's time we wake up & start screaming & demanding our rights.
We are being attacked. We are being told to shut up & take the changes a FEW want to shove upon the majority.
I'm offended by many of the "legal" decisions made by many cities, states & the Federal government, including the Supreme Court against us.

Are you willing to fight?
If so,,,, when?

Hi,

Ty, I'm afraid you don't want to hear the answer to that question. There's lots of big talk out there, but let's just look at one of yours and my favorite causes, NRA membership:

We hear plenty of "From my cold dead hands" and "Molon Labe" TALK. But when push comes to shove, better than 90% of our known gunowners have a wide variety of excuses why they won't even spend $35 a year to have someone ELSE do one part of the fighting for them while they'll pay three times that every month to keep their TV remote busy! You think that crowd's gonna move its collective bum off the couch and do it themselves? And gunowners are generally a little more vocal about their rights than the average guy walking down the street seems to be!

I'd love to be pleasantly surprised and learn I'm wrong. Not holding my breath, though: I don't look that good with a blue face...

I think it boils down to: Our elected officials (not "party" specific) are greedy, selfish, and will do whatever they think will win them votes and re-election, so they can continue to feel powerful and in control of the populus. They (mistakenly) think somehow they and their families will always be immune from the effects of what they do .... not so!

When will we start fighting back? When all this nonsense gets so "personal" that we are forced to take a stand just to survive. When? .... I dunno, but it "will" happen. My $0.02 ..... jack

Ty - This has been a hot topic in the political forum... Yes, it's a full frontal assault on everything and anything to do with Southern heritage & history. It's wicked and it's deceitful, but unfortunately if locals don't speak up and stop it, it will continue.

Where does it stop?? The logical ending point for this political junta is the Jefferson Memorial, Monticello, Mt Vernon and so on, all the way to the Constitution itself.

Think "Fundamental Change". That is the reality of it. Political Correctness, the creation of protected classes, and the dumbing down of the masses via public 'education' were created precisely to set the stage for a situation like this. It's been on the shelf ready to go for years. Now this idiot kid gave 'em the kick in the rump they need to run amok. And they're pushing it as far as it'll go.

Fight? With what? What do citizens do? This is going on locally throughout the South so there's no national action to take per se. (Funny how States' Rights is OK when it's one of their ideas)

And there is no 'hysteria' on the part of the citizenry. It's astroturf. It's all being done by politicos & media slugs who hold power. Legislators, city council members, governors, etc. Crony-victims are very easy to come by. The table is set and they're kicking the silverware over as fast as they can go. It's like gun control - You can throw the @)*!#$s out in the next election, but the damage is done. Rinse, spin & repeat. That's how incrementalism works.

These are horrible times. If you've got ideas how to take some action, I'd sure love to hear 'em. But this thing is probably gonna run its course. God only knows where it's gonna stop.

I'm extremely offended about what's going on also, like I've already said in other threads what they are trying to do to the South is no different then what ISIS is doing to the middle east.

Both of them trying to destroy historical artifacts that don't fit their agenda. :x

We need to be screaming at our legislators. I want Negro's/colored people (NAACP) to stop calling themselves African Americans. They are Americans. If they continue to call themselves African give them a one way ticket to Africa, as President Lincoln wanted to do! We have given in a bunch, now it is time for them to join America or leave it.

I agree no one calls me English American and we don't have no NAAWP.

America Rest in Peace!

Hope everyone is happy, Fundamental Change is the
only thing out of BHOs mouth that was not a lie. ps

Thinking along the same lines we then need to rename Washington DC and tear down the Washington Monument. Washington was a slave owner. Then remove the Jefferson Memorial as he too was a slave owner. Lets change to name of Washington and Lee University. What about Arlington House and grounds? That was Lees home and is now used for other purposes. Like all politicians, whatever knee jerk, politically correct BS, that may earn them a vote, is being swilled this week is what is 'in style' today. Personally I am going to purchase a Confederate flag, fly it, and dare some do-good SOB to tell me I have to remove it.

This is really about race in America. I thought we were doing pretty well considering the 60's but now I think it is time for more race discussions. If not done on a national level more violence is liable to break out.

PLEASE understand my OP wasn't meant to be political. (TitanX I apologize if you took it that way.) It was intended to be more of a statement on how the current stupidity could easily be switched to guns. I may not have related all I was thinking as I considered this post.
Basically, switch the discussion from a flag to a firearm.

See the potential for mass problems,,, all over & not just a handfull of states?

I saw a few commercials on TV over the last week from the NRA & the SAF. But they were on outdoor channels only. Yet, as noted above, we have many gun owners who are not willing to stand up for their rights, OR fight for them. Many gun owners are "casual." They own a few guns for hunting, or self defense. Some just because they were family heirlooms. This group of people does not belong to the NRA or do anything to fight to keep their rights. To them, the most important things are above what the Constitution states. Many feel that the economy, immigration, gay marriage, wages, LEO excessive force, ISIS, downsizing the military, get the military out of other countries, etc,,,,, ALL are more important topics to be concerned about than their basic rights that give them freedom.
They have stuck their heads in the sand with thoughts like;
"They will never get rid of guns."
"They will not get mine."
"My gun isn't an evil assault rifle."
"Nobody needs any military type of gun."
"Gun background checks are fine with me."
"Registration for guns is ok."
"Why not get a license to own a gun, just like a drivers license?"

Yet, these same people will either roll over meekly if their family heirloom is ordered to be turned in. Or, if their favorite hunting firearm is banned they will say "Ok, I don't have any place to hunt anymore anyway."

We all know people like this. We meet them all the time. Yet, as much as we politely TRY & get them to realize the fact that the Second Amendment gives them their freedoms, they ignore us.

We need to fight.
We need to scream, in such a way as to convince people the get their heads out of the sand & be part of the solution.
Each & every one of us CAN make a difference.
Right or wrong, you can not ignore the fact that the NRA is the most powerful pro-gun group fighting for us in Washington.
Those who are against the NRA & don't join for whatever reason are part of the problem.
I'll readily admit that the NRA is not perfect.
Many have some type of disagreement that affected them personally to where they refuse to join the NRA.
Too many mailings.
Unwanted phone calls.
Regular solicitation for money.
Failure to fight for something they want to see changed.
Disagreement over how a NRA figurehead may have said something.
Whatever.

We as gun owners need to be the ones out front fighting for our rights.
We need to be demanding that the politicians adhere to their oath.
We as voters need to look at each & every person who aspires to be in office, and see how they stand on our rights. In my home, we ask each one we can, or look at the record of those we can't ask, about how they feel about firearm ownership & the Second Amendment. If we get anything other than a pro-gun response, we discount them as not willing to stand up for Americans.

We also need to stop being silent & demand the media see us. We need to be PEACEFUL, yet educated & polite when we present our views.

But the best thing we can do, each & every one of us, is to adopt ONE person who is not a supporter of Freedoms, (not just firearms,) and work HARD at educating them against this current craze of political correctness. Firearms are a big part of these freedoms.
If each & every one of us looks around, we will know somebody who is against firearms, the Confederate flag, or against LEO's doing their job, or against prayer in school, or against the Pledge of Allegiance, or whatever. If we decide to work hard, (in a sense fighting) to try & educate them to where they realize our country is going down the toilet, we can win the war.
We have lost too many battles so far.
We need to start winning.

Now, I tried to keep this post civil, and not political as it's more about the complacency I see daily. Many of us see the way we are losing our freedoms all the time. I wanted this post to be about saving freedom, and NOT become a political discussion.

Begin the discussion by asking why there is so much black on black crime? Why is black out of wedlock birth through the roof? Why do so many poor blacks demonize their peers who value getting an education? Black society began spiraling downhill right after the government began "helping" them in the 60's. I think a lot of race relations is driven by bad government policy.

Ty - It's next to impossible to separate these issues (whether the issue is flags, heritage, or guns) from politics. It's all tied to politics by the politicians, not by We, the People.

What we all must take away from your outstanding post is that apathy ANYWHERE will be met with crushing blows. Period. And we must stand shoulder to shoulder, even when the issue at hand isn't necessarily OUR personal issue. As you say - A flag today, a gun tomorrow. They beat us by dividing us. It's a method as old as life on this earth.

You have make some great suggestions - I would add that it's IMPERATIVE that everyone who values their firearms must get involved immediately, and work within our individual STATE governments to ensure that there is no more ground surrendered on the 2nd Amendment.

Here in Arizona, Bloomberg is burrowing in to get Washington/Colorado/Oregon style gun control on the ballot. Same in Nevada, and the same in Texas. They're going after one state at a time because they understand that the people ain't watching the back doors.

I am a member of Arizona Civil Defense League who has been very instrumental in not only stopping bad legislation, but raising awareness of ALL legislation that can hurt us. I hope every state has a similar organization, and everyone who values American liberty & freedom should support these groups as much as possible.

National groups such as GOA, NRA etc are fine to support, and I do. But the fact is that just like the flags and monuments, we're being sliced and diced, separated from our values one state at a time. NRA/GOA can't help with that.

We have to do it.

Perhaps a "Sticky" can be put somewhere where each of us can post names and contact information for groups such as AZCDL who are doing great work, only for every state represented by RF members.

RugerHound,,, I thank you for all you do, as well as understanding the tone & info behind my posts. It was just a lot of thinking as I drive to jobs that got me to really thinking deep behind the surface of things.
Miss Penny & I discussed it a lot over the weekend as well. The moral decay, the removal of God, Jesus, & worship by so many. Heck even the tolerance of so many churches of things when the Bible says things are wrong. From the removal of spanking in schools & public of our kids, to any form of serious correction when they do wrong, to the outright demands of so many adults who feel "entitled."
How often do we hear; "You are disrespecting me!" uttered by adults? How often do we hear about how they want us to give them "more" all while refusing to actually get a job & put into the system? How about people who have learned the "system" of freebies & expect more of the same?

Examples;
Just a few days ago, I got a call from a 211 representative. I didn't know exactly what a "211 rep" was. But she told me she helped people find "free government supported services for people." Basically, taxpayer supported programs. She had a person with a bat on or in a window of their home. When I told her my fees for my services, you could almost hear her recoil in horror over having to actually pay for services. Needless to say, I didn't get the job.
Next, Miss Penny works in a law firm. They have a divorce/custody case where the man believes a woman should be subservient to her man. They have seven kids. He is trying to get complete custody of all seven kids, AND make his wife pay child support. She is unemployed. She lives in a shelter, with the most recent 2 kids. He works, makes approximately $38,000 a year, yet gets Medicaid, the kids get it as well. He gets food stamps, a check from the government to help with rent & utilities. AND, his wife is also getting money, food stamps, Medicaid etc as well.
This guy complains about ANY fees the law office charges him, yet he will call all the time asking advice, or wanting something done. Recently he demanded that the birth certificate be altered to reflect his name as the father, (it hadn't been done at the hospital, as they were separated at the time.) Work was done to have this submitted to the courts. He called in, upset about fees, and asked; "Do you charge me for this?" Miss Penny replied, (again) that they charge for any & all work, phone calls, email time etc. He then demanded that they NOT file the paperwork, but to make his ex-wife pay for the court ordered change. And he didn't want to be billed for the face to face time with the attorney, or any work already completed by them at his earlier request. According to Miss Penny, he and his wife have figured out ways to milk the system, and get a lot of freebies, all on the backs of taxpayers. (BTW; before anybody claims it's a race thing, this couple is white.)

After Katrina hit New Orleans, many were displaced. Miss Penny was the office manager for a commercial construction company. She hired a guy to work, at $14 per hour, skilled labor. he was from NO. He worked a while, was a good worker, yet came in one day & quit. Why? He made too much money and would lose his government $$$ if he kept working at this job. He went to work, part time, at minimum wage to keep all the free stuff coming in.

Our country is upside down when a working person can not get good health care, dental care, decent housing, buy groceries & raise a family, while many do nothing to contribute to the system & live off the taxpayer's backs. Heck, even prisoners in jail get better care than a working man.
And these same "entitled" people are the very ones who demand changes & want to remove our rights.

We need to fight to change things, or Freedom is lost.

Look deep into your souls everybody & see what you can do to make a turnaround happen.

I'm beginning to see Confederate Battle Flags flying on many vehicles in my neck of the woods. Haven't seen that since the American Flag on vehicles shortly after 9/11/01. Southern heritage will not go down easily...if ever.

Colonialgirl,

"Let me know when they Dig up Woodrow Wilson's tomb and dump his bones in the river along with those of Sen. Robert Byrd (Grand KKK KLEAGLE) of WV."

I've been wondering that from the moment this stuff started to hit the fan.
They will have to rename several major roads and government buildings in WV and DC as well.

First understand I am/was in favor of taking down the flag.... but with that said I agree with Contender.... but I really think this is all much ado about nothing. Most politics is just folks blowing off steam..... and politicians love it.

some folks a few months back got upset that a War Memorial in Greenwood S.C. had the White dead and 'Colored' dead for WWI and II listed separately ...... then someone very wisely noted that it should stay that way to show how things were looked at back then.... it is history.

But we do have to watch out....

How about deciding our future! :)

I posted this over in the political section since it directly relates to "Gun control".

However, I know a lot of folks shy away from that section, so I'm hoping this will reach a wider audience here. If the Moderators feel this is inappropriate, by all means act accordingly!

Based on Contender's post in the Lounge regarding fighting back, I'm offering this information to RF members. The 30th Annual Gun Rights Policy Conference will be held in Phoenix this September 25th through the 27th. Note - This is NOT an Arizona event... This is a national event put on by Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

http://www.ccrkba.org/?page_id=2898

Admission is free, but attendance is not unlimited obviously!

https://www.saf.org/?espresso_events=gu ... rence-2015

I would LOVE to see our Arizona RF friends as well as 2A supporters from around the country. Check it out! Join Citizens Committee if you can, or at least donate if you can!

Find out what's going on in the ongoing struggle for our RtKaBA!

Get involved!
Get informed!
Meet Mr & Mrs Rugerhound! ;)

Things used to get pretty heated up over there TitanX! lol And it wasn't just our friends on the "D" side of things. Sometimes the battles between the conservatives would get pretty .... exciting as well. ;)

It's all about control and not recognizing individual liberties.... Both sides of the political spectrum do this.... in fact the conservative republicans are more in favor of this than the Demos.... prove me wrong.

But anyway... long live the South!
My families history... is that the War of Northern Aggression was pretty recent.... I lost relatives in the Revolution and most probably even before when they were trying to keep those European invaders out. (lost that one too)
