Oh? I haven't ever encountered a situation where PayPay was needed. Explain yourself.
What a gracious response! I use Paypal whenever I can when I order online whenever I do not have an established account with the merchant already that I use for purchasing. For instance, I have an Amazon account, and I use my Amazon account whenever I order anything from Amazon. Or, if I order from Dell (for computers), I use my Dell account. But these are somewhat special situations when ordering product because both offer interest free for 12 or 6 months respectively, but only when the purchase price is over a certain amount.
But back to Paypal, it also allows you to buy products and pay over time, interest free. I believe Paypal's time is 6 months, whereas with Amazon it is 12 months sometimes. But this is one the benefits of using Paypal. But the biggest advantage of using Paypal is that you do not give out your credit card info to the seller when making a purchase, thus reducing greatly any issues with the credit card being stolen, or misused in some way. This is the real reasons for Paypal's existence.
Of course, there are places that do not accept purchasing with Paypal, just as there are places that do not accept Discover Card or Mastercard, such as Costco. In addition, I believe the merchant pays Paypal the same fee as if using any other credit cards, about 3%. But Paypal also has the feature that allows you to transfer money to other Paypal customers over the internet. If you send money for a friend or a relative, Paypal charges you no fee, and I have used this often.
One final comment about using Paypal - you can choose with each purchase which one of your accounts that you have established with Paypal to use whenever you are purchasing something with it. In other words, you get to establish whatever accounts you wish to be used when you use Paypal to buy something. When you first establish a Paypal account, you must set it up with one of your existing accounts, which can be your checking account or it could be another credit card. You can even setup many credit cards, or even various checking accounts if you have more than one of these.
In my case, I often use one on my specific credit cards with balance transfer checks that offer 0% interest for a specified amount of time, and then I make sure that Paypal purchase do not end up using that credit card by changing the default account that Paypal is to use. That way I keep other purchases off the credit card with the 0% interest. Sometimes my Paypal default is my checking account, sometimes it is another credit card, and sometimes it is my internal Paypal credit account (where I get interest free for 6 months).
And with all these features of Paypal, there is no fee to you in having an account with them, and using them for purchases. The merchant pays the fee whenever you make a purchase, just as they do whenever you use any other credit card.
And, as for making gun or ammo purchases using Paypal, I would expect this to be the choice of the merchant, rather than some overall ban by Paypal, although I am not really ceratin of this since I have never attemped a purchase with Paypal, nor have I ever looked into it to see if they have such a policy. If they do, I would still use Paypal elsewhere since its benefit is so great. I have purchared guns and ammo online, but Paypal was simply never a choice. If it were, I would have used it.
