I found this little thing languishing in a pawn shop this week so had to bring it home. It has been converted but the correct parts kit is on its way.

Well, it came with the one shown. I had a Premier loading gate in my parts box, and quickly installed it to save my thumb.
Update: The Ruger website dates my gun to 1956...So it's definitely from the Flatgate time frame. 😉

I looked very close at the picture,, and the serial number does look like it starts with an "8". If that's the correct first number,, then it wasn't shipped as a Flatgate. BUT,, if the number is actually a "3" then it would be a Flatgate.
