...came to me this past weekend , looking all dull and ragged, #51,81x serial range and a old nickel finish on it, and sadly my jar of Mothers is about dried up from years of use, felt sorry for it, so brought it home....wish the numb hands and fingers felt a bit better ( younger maybe)

the first picture,as we got it, the 2nd and 3rd are polished up a bit by hand........

I doubt it ,BUT, that being said, it is about the time period of the flood (water) damage to factory records , much like our last #19,4xx flatgate that is chromed....Kim said no way to prove or disprove,,,oh well and they did the same thing to the chrome gun left the grip frame ,mainly cause it is an alloy , in the 'blue'....AND they put varnished walnut grips on this gun, instead of the black plastic ( hard rubber?)
Now to be able to "polish" the patina off the nickel....oh well ,not in any hurry.....

here is the 19,40x single six flatgate we had up to just this past week and per the letter from Kim P many years ago, those records were lost in the "flood" (water pipe damage)
and I had gotten this gun at the OGCA in Columbus,Oh from another Member who claimed it was "chrome" and I asked him how and why/? and he said the box had a small white sticker on it stating "Chrome",,,hmmm, thats how the factory did it, BUT alas we got booted out of Columbus ( city councilman did not like gun shows) and we had to move up to Cleveland to the I-X Center, and I never saw the guy again ,never got the box...more Ruger 'lore'........:cool:
also in a conversation with Steve Vogel back then, he said to bring it to the next RCA display show for him to actually handle, see the gun and he would tell me if it was work done by Superior plating, but sadly Steve passed away that Nov., I believe it was and we did not get together, ssssoooooo:(
