P95 trigger takedown

My new P95PR's single-action pull is very creepy. Apparently that's no real surprise, and it's not a big problem if I pull through smoothly. But it bothers me that the creep is what I would call progressive and irreversible. If I take it up a little, then release the trigger and pull again, it's obvious that the sear has not reset completely after the first pull and it's a bit closer to letoff. With two or three pulls, taking up that last millimeter of creep, it can be coaxed to almost a set-trigger position.

This just doesn't seem like the kind of thing that a lot of firing and dry-firing will smooth out. I'd like to look at the innards and see what I can polish without changing any engagement angle, etc., but I before I start punching pins out, I want to be sure I can get it back together.

Is the disassembly/assembly fairly obvious? Is the P95 sufficiently similar to the P89 that the Radocy P89 Takedown Guide will help me with that?

Thanks!

Simple disassembly and reassembly is easy, the Ruger videos demonstrate this quite nicely. Go here, hit the Tech Tips tab and find the 3 videos for the P95.

Getting into the trigger assembly and fire control housing seems a little more daunting. I'll let others with more experience guide you here.

The last and first time I took a trigger group apart was on my Sig 230... it took me over 8 hours to get it back together. From what I see above the P95 is probably not as bad... but still.....

The first thought that comes to mind with your problem is you said 'my new P95'. If this is a brand new pistol from the factory, my understanding is one should really not mess with anything... if the gun is functioning properly, until after 3-500 rounds have been put through it.

I took digital pictures before I removed each part. Move slow and think about each step before you do it. Take another picture after the removal or each step. If your memory is like mine, you will need this. I deleted my pictures after I completed mine - wish I had not. I discovered that the Trigger Bar KVO1703 had jagged metal stamping on the side. I used a smooth file and a whet stone to smoothe the edges. I also used a small smooth file to remove the jagged inside edge of the slot. This part is fitted at the factory - I was worried that I might screw it up. After the 19 # spring change I now have a 2 pound trigger pull. It is still long - like a "Colt pull" - I like my S&W pull better but It shoots well!

 Wow. That is scary light. Have you measured it with a pull gauge?

I measured it with my trusty walmart fish gauge. DA was 11 down to 10, SA was 4 down to 2. Not very accurate, but I measured it about 6 times each way. It has a long pull, but it is smooth and not jerkly like before. Actually my S&W is less - almost too light but thats how I like to shoot for bullseye.
