P90DC WITH LANYARD LOOP

I HAVE A PK 90 W/ SAFETY/DECOCKER. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A PK90DC. THE 90DC HAS A LANYARD LOOP, THE 90 DOES NOT. IS THE LOOP A HINT AS TO THE YEAR OF MANUFACTURE. IF NOT COULD SOMEONE EXPLAIN THE DIFFERECE.
