Overkill on a Ruger 1911?

I prefer the fossilized tooth cut on my 1911 and the ivory on my revolvers. Like the mammoth ivory they are delicate so definitely more for the BBQ gun. You will not see a return on your investment, but they sure do look good.

Scott is a much better photographer, so I stole his picture of my Bowen 45 Colt with the blue hue to match the Turnbull coloring.

Hell who cares they are yours......people give me crap because I like Pachmayr's on some of my 1911's, Hi Power and revolvers. If you like it do it. Screw everyone else.

I wouldn't mind horn grips on a 1911...but I don't care for any engraving scrolly things or scenes.

My favorite color is Olive Drab......don't care what anyone else's is.
Some times it just requires some time to acquire a taste. I never cared much for Pachmayr grips myself either until I bought my used Smith & Wesson model 64 snub nosed revolver. It had a set of Pachmayr combat grips on it and they are the most comfortable grips I have owned.

Pachs are a great grip and cheap! For a strictly work gun pachs are hard to beat! I do like nice grips, wood, stag, ivory, unfortunately some of those are a bit pricey. I have 1 pair of stag grips that I really am not happy with. I wont comment on who in Wyoming made them but my next pair will come from somewhere else. I am going to try to reshape them, we'll see. Some fake ivory is probably in my future, it's about impossible to tell them from the real thing LOL.

I've seen young men wearing nail polish and lipstick and old men with flowers on their belt and holster. It seems wise that we would let others be who they are and shame on those who would bar another man from sitting with those circled around the campfire.

While I love fine engraving, cased steel, bone, antler, and wood with high figure, you'll most likely never see any of it on my guns. I'm too much of a simpleton for such lovely things...

Good on you for getting one built the way you want.
