Damn, I hate it when that happens.........
I undertand how the woman was not aware that the rope was not attached, but the two men who lifted her and threw her could not NOT have noticed. Looks like murder to me.
Saw the video on TV tonight - Yep, murder she wrote - they should hang both of them with that rope that is just laying there.
Allow me to tell a little story.
I was teaching a couple of rookie firemen how to use a Sky Genie
We were working off of the catwalk around the aircraft control tower. I had showed them how to put on the harness and we practiced multiple times ( this had been done on the ground but more review is never a bad thing). I was going to free descend (look ma no hands) to show them it was safe. As I stepped up on the railing to jump off I looked down and there was a good 12" between my D ring and the sky genie of nothing but air.
You can imagine just how fast I was back on the catwalk, heart racing. But it's like riding a horse. It was either do it then or never. So after quadruple checking the entire rig I climbed back up and just leaned back. Object lesson for the rookies, and a serious wakeup call for me.
