Which do you prefer - DA or SA revolvers? (plus preferred barrel lengths)

I like DAs with 3-1/2" to 4" barrels, as they are comfortable to pack, easy to wield, and get off multiple shots quickly.

I prefer double action because I can shoot it in either single or double action. and with those revolvers I prefer 5-to-7-inch barrel length.

DA and its not even close.

Have a 2' J frame that gets carried when I run or ride my bike.

5" 629 gets carried as a woods gun.

Rest are autos.

I wish I had an opinion on Freedom Arms 97 in 45LC w 6" bbl. I think that would be the Cat's Meow!! But for what they cost it oughta be

I have four SAs- .22 Single Six 6 1/2", 50th .357 Flattop Blackhawk 4 5/8", 5 1/2" Flattop .44 Special Blackhawk and a 5 1/2" .44 SPL Bisley Blackhawk.

And one lonely little S&W 638 Airweight .38 on the DA side.

So I guess it's single-actions by default.

Of the five, my favorite would be the standard-grip 5 1/2" .44 SPL flattop, followed closely by the .357. Although neither one is quite as packable as the Airweight, alas.

Hard one to answer as it varies but these are what balances and feels best to me.
Single actions 4 3/4' ish.
Double action S&W's 5" N frames.

Have several of each and enjoy each immensely. I could choose a favorite but it would not be based on single vs double action.

4" barrel is about as short as I like, and 6" barrel is about as long as I like
In DA I like shooting 6" S&W 29 and 686 carrying a 4" S&W 66
In a SA I like 5 1/2" best I think.

My DA might as well be SA's. I NEVER shoot DA. I would need barn door targets shooting DA.

For concealed carry I prefer a 3" K frame. For open carry a 44 magnum Vaquero with +P 44 special loads
