I have a 6.5" OM 3 screw 41 mag. I prefer a 5.5" barrel. Other than sending this one out to either Ruger or a smith, did they make one with a 5.5" barrel?

They did make a 5.5" NM Bisley in 41 Magnum:

Unfortunately it was a distributor special so they're not easy to find.

I wonder who all they made them for. I have a new model Bisley 5.5 in. stainless but it has red wood grips and an engraved cylinder. Sorry, no photo as I am traveling. Probably could not post one anyway.

pistoleer,

Have you considered just lopping it off yourself?. It's a pretty basic job to do if you screw the front sight back on like the single six; you don't have know how to solder and you don't have to reblue the barrel.

Gad, Lee! That SSBBH looks so awesomely good! I'm tempted to hand over my own Biseley 41 to someone so I can have a gun that looks as good as that gem you got there!

TPA.

Thanks. This is an Acusport Bisley that's been modified:

1) Pac Nor barrel with an 11 degree cone installed
2) Home-built aluminum post front sight
3) Rollmark removed
4) #5 basepin
5) 2 lb trigger job
6) Grey laminate grips

DROOOOLLLLL!!!

Pistoleer, We are probably in a minority but I also favor single action's with 5 1/2" snouts. Granted, the 4 5/8 inch ones pack rather nicely but look like a pug nose dog.

John, I guess we are. To me the 5.5" is balanced just right. I got rid of my 7.5" guns and most of the 4.63, though I still have a couple. The rest of my guns are 5.5", ez to shoot and to carry. Heck, even a couple, of my big bore Smiths, are 5".

I have a friend on this forum that told me it would be a sacriledge if I chopped my barrel.

I told him to trade me but alas and alack, nope.

I don't know........
