A few weeks ago picked up an OM 45 4 5/8 (1972) with a Ruger brass frame. Since the 45-175xx serial number fell right in the range of the factory brassies I called Ruger first thing Monday morning but no luck. Although the gun letters as a convertible (no extra cylinder with it), the brass frame was not shipped with the gun from the factory. I have had a few brass frames but this is the first factory brassie and the first attached to a gun.

So far no 45 Convertibles were shipped from the factory with Brass grip frames that will letter as such.

Very nice examples Flatgate.

Was up in your neck of the woods a couple weeks ago. As we were leaving Cody heard about a gun show in Lander but didn't go as we were heading acoss the hill to Sheridan. Never get enough of the Cody Museum

Hey Chance, nice gun and too bad it doesn't letter, but a 45 convertible ain't bad. Are you coming up to the Arizona Arms Show in Prescott Valley next week, I've got a table there and will have some stuff for sell. If you are, bring this one along, if I do any good at the show might be really interested in it, as I have a box and shipper for a short barreled .45 convertible. Even if I don't make any money, maybe we could come up with a trade if you haven't sold it.

HH We will be in Prescott Friday about noon to set up. Look forward to seeing you.

I have another OM 45 convertible with correct numbered second cylinder that I may put the brass frame on.

That drive from Cody to Sheridan has got to be one of the most fantastic treks I have made. The rolling meadows above treeline at the top is one the prettiest place I have ever been. My uncle taught at Sheridan HS for years and worked for the Forrest Service up there every summer. First time I was there was in the early 80's and have never forgot it.

I was on a big fire in the Bighorn's, in about 1970 or
'71, called the Pumpkin Creek fire. When we left the fire, the crew I was with (Santo Domingo Indians from New Mexico), was transported via schoolbus down to Sheridan and then flown on to Washington State. The busdriver was from Sheridan and told me all about shooting buffalo in culling and control of bruselosis. Interesting stuff about the rifles he used and how effective they were on the big beasts. Neat country and always wanted to go back and see the sites.

Gee,,,, I ALMOST don't have the heart to tell jimbo that I found 2, factory verified 45 OM's with brass grip frames over the last year,,,! :D
(Yeah,, I did say almost,,,! ) Would it bother him a bit more to know one of them was boxed,,,?
Love them OM 45's myself!

Have a good solution Jimbo. Just send me a medium Flat Rate Priority Box filled with money and the next time I find an OM 45 I will grab it and send it back to ya in the now empty box

That would only work if I had the cash to stuff in there.
My quarter jar and my penny jar are just about full, and I have this old Coke machine that I could trade, you just come get it when you drop off my new gun. Maybe they will take it over at that Las Vegas Pawn Shop and give you lots of cash?
Between you, bearstopper and contender, there is a wonder any are left out there to find!

Ask nicely & I might consider taking a few pics of mine & posting them,,,!
:D :D
Oh,, I've also found another 45 OM in 7-1/2" boxed. I'm trying to get him to hold it until I finish another deal,,! I'm not telling the price,, it might cause a breakdown,,,,!

Some beautiful guns in this thread, thanks for posting them!
