Old Model Single-Six GRIP PICS ADDED

I am looking to but this Single-Six from an older gentleman. It has been stuffed under his mattress for years. It cleaned up nicely, but has slight pitting on cylinder and barrell. Frame has no pitting and is plum colored. He bought it in 1958-59 and added stag grips and no longer has original grips. Has original box with no paperwork. Claims less than 2 boxes shot through it.Not converted, serial #90490 any ideas on value? Thanks

WOW :!: I think you have come across a fine Ruger Single Six with maybe factory stag grips,would need to see the back side of the grips to get a better idea if they are from RUGER FACTORY :arrow: 500.00 dollars just for the grips . The other guys will have different opinions on the total worth I'd say 900.00 on the gun and stags if they are factory. GREAT FIND :!: :!: forgot the boxs are around 175-200 dollars depending on condition.I just checked my list I have serial #90773

Looking at the outside of the grips, they look like original Ruger Stag grips. RENE list the value at $535.00. Ruger Single-Six XR3 round gate in 95% to 98% list for $425. Would love to see a picture of the back of the grips. Nice old Single-Six.

looks pretty darn good, and the pitting is very minor, could clean up even more...as noted above thats an easy $1000 "package" you done GOOD.....we like it
Easy enough to find the original 'plastic' (hard rubber) black grips and the manual for the gun, around an extra $100 bill.......

that was my comment "looks good to me" as its always a judgement call ,subject to everyones opinion, I only note the gap up front on the left side but we often see this, and if you loosen the screw, it does move around a bit...but the color, make up of the stag material, the way they were made, locations of all the cuts, holes etc, looks good to me...many folks will "down play" them, when its NOT theirs and the opposite come time to sell them.oh well, life in the big city..............I just say "caveat emptor" when it comes time to buy a pair and they are priced in the OZONE ( collectors value) when they come on a gun, and the price is "fair" and someone is NOT out to gouge you..its when they "press" the issue, push up the price, or try to pull one over on the buyer.
Go back and LOOK at (carefully) any and all stag grips that have ever been pictured on this or any forum and "see" what you see, pay attention to detail, and never say never........you got a GREAT "package" and I like it.

One can never be sure if they are Factory Stag grips. That being said! If I was looking for a set of Factory Ruger Stag grips and the price was right, then I would have no problem buying those. They look right to me.

Thanks americal,rugerguy, street and contender for your input. Your guys knowledge is invaluable. Ended up closing the deal with a Marlin 57M 22 mag levergun thrown into the deal also. Will be buying a set of black hard rubber grips for the SS and taking off the stags.

I agree with the posts above! Great Package! I'd leave the stags on the gun unless you're going to use it as a shooter. :shock:

If I had to bet a weekly paycheck I'd say those are factory stags. The machine marks, thickness, medallion crimping, color, vintage stag 'look', even the screw going the wrong direction are all a prefect match to mine. I say they're righteous. And that is a great package!
