The National Guard today is not the "Rambo movies" National Guard. They are now held to the same standards and requirements as the Regular Army, both physical and training . It has been nearly 20 years since I retired but even then we, the 29th Inf Div (L), trained with the regulars. There was no difference in training requirements, uniforms, equipment. Members of my Cav Squadron went to Estonia as trainers way back in the early 90s. We, in addition to the Federal requirements were also trained in crowd control in case of riots such as occurred in the 70s and again just last year.
