NRA BOD Elections

At least this time not looking to "bash" the NRA...
In this month's magazine is a ballot for BOD members.
We can vote for up to 25 people, only 28 on ballot, not much of a choice.
My question is if anybody here knows of any current board
members who perhaps hate Wayne and the existing status as much as
I do?
My option now is only to vote for people who are NOT current board members
unless any suggestions from questions above.
Thanks
Dave

I received my June/July Rifleman issue with the ballot yesterday. After reading the "qualification" statements of the nominees it looks like they all appear to "qualified." And from observations of some of the organizations I belong to, sometimes voting for new blood leads to other problems.

I have the same question: "Who do I vote for?"

Regardless ….. there will likely NOT be a majority of anti-Wayne members voted in. He wont be removed by a new board (at least not this time), nor will his position be seriously threatened.

I'll pick one the ones who are not c currently on the B.O.B. I'll also put on the form, cancel WLP or something similar. Methinks if enough voting member say can WLP or something similar, maybe that'll turn the trick. Could also add, no more money till WLP is gone. Now, all we can hope for is enough members speak up.

I started this thread because I know nothing about any of the people running and I suspect
99% of the membership don't either. It seems a large percentage of members are unhappy
with the present situation and want to see it changed.
Only way I see it is to gain some "inside information" of existing members who want change
or only vote for new people.

I think the biggest failing of the NRA is not having an open line of communication with the membership for robust discussions of where we as a group need to be or go. I get electronic magazines, so I will look for the ballot in the mail. Like the others I only know what the bio says about the nominees.

My question is just who is making the nominations? Personally I know a couple individuals I believe would be a great addition to the Board. How does one initially get them on the ballot? I realize that I can "write in" a name but it would only be my write in and never seen by all.

I suspect that like most not-for-profit corporations, the current Board decides on qualifications for new members, and if Board members are apathetic or just too busy to get really involved, the C.E.O. (or in this case the Executive Director) selects who is up for consideration. Its really a pretty closed process in most of these organizations and I suspect that the NRA is the same.

I received a ballot but have absolutely NO idea who to vote for so I won't be sending it back.

There used to be adds in the magazines from the dissenting factions. Haven’t seen that in years. As far as I know there is no way an every day member can know who is really running. Until that changes we are doomed to continue the stars quo.

I too would like some recommendations on who should earn my votes. Yes, the NRA has had some disappointments recently but I'm not giving up on them. Over the years, they have been our friend and ally and I will continue to support them.

Any recommendations?

Jim

Send it back, I don't know anybody either so I'm voting only for those who are not
current directors.
I'm also enclosing a note basically saying "Wayne needs to go or I quit! "....not that it'll
do any good.
I'm really hoping that some DA somewhere manages to get him convicted of a crime and
they put his sorry butt in jail. Might be the only way to get rid of him.

I don't know who to vote for either. I would rather dance with who brung me than vote in someone that may be worse. I don't like WLP, but in the current situation, I'm not jumping on any ole bandwagon that come rollin along. It might be like some in this country did in the last POTUS election and you see what the results are. So until I know who I am supporting I will keep sending in my dues so I can be counted as a member. I will support other Second Amendment organizations with the additional contributions I would normally send the NRA. The current problem will remedy itself one way or the other in the not to distant future.

My question is why does my organization feel it needs 28 board of directors? Must be one big table they sit around. Reminds me of years ago the S.C. chimney sweep guild had about 10 directors which included the president, VP, tres. and sec...... total membership was about 15..........

I think they actually have about 75 people on the board which seems like too many.
Anybody know how many dues paying members actually bother to vote in the " elections" ?
