Any reason I should jump on a clean .223 No3 for $700. Are they common or rare? I've found differing opinions so I figured I'd ask the brain trust.

Hi you can ck gunbroker for completed sales you will find sellers are asking high prices and none are selling in my opinion that is a little high unless it is in very nice shape there is almost always one or two on gunbroker for sale in my opinion $650 for a nice one I have been looking for a mint in the box 223 for a while now and passed at $750 I need the 223 and the 30-40 to complete my collection so unless you gotta have it I would pass again just my opinion

Gramps

My opinion is $700 for a clean one is fair.
Looking on GB you would need to buy one at $665 + $35 shipping then what ever your dealer charges to receive it, my dealer is $25.
That would be $640 +35+25 ... $700 delivered.

I don’t know why,,, but a lot of the 223’s got aftermarket sling swivel studs installed and most of the time the front stud was installed wankey, a deal breaker for me.

FWIW; the 223 and 45/70 are the most common calibers.

I picked one up in 223 about 2 years back at the Reno Gun Show for $450.00, excellent condition. Last year I got one locally in 22 Hornet for about $750.00, as new/no box. $700.00 strikes me as a bit proud for a 223, but to each his own. I never regretted paying a bit too much for a gun I wanted but have when I passed on one.
