I am looking for a ballpark figure on the value of a Ruger #1 rifle in 357 magnum W/CHP roll stamp please. I am the original owner and the rifle is pristine, never fired, still in the box and comes with the matching rifle case. I have not been able to find a recent value on any site I have looked on. Looking for assistance from the Ruger brain trust on this site. Looking to sell the rifle locally in Orange County. Thank you in advance for any and all info on the value.

So I guess you've looked @ Gun Broker? If not, I found this.

Yes, thank you for the reply. I have been following this one and others on Gun Broker for some time now. This one is consistently never bid on as the price is obviously way too high, at least for me. I have two pristine, never fired in the box Ruger No1's in 357 W/ the CHP roll mark. One rifle has the CHP emblemed soft case while the other has the accompanying Buck folding knife with CHP roll mark. Looking at selling soon. Thanks again for the info.

Well, I would be very interested in one of your No. 1's in .357, at the right price. I don't care if it has the CHP marking or not, as long as it is in pristine condition. I also do not need the Buck folding knife, just the rifle and, perhaps, the CHP case. Tell me what you think is a fair price (with and without the case) and we can go from there. DM me with your contact info or via text to 703-254-6700. Thanks!! GunTeacher.

Yup. All the above.
Bob Brown retired as a LTC. I worked with him at Yokota from 1983-86 in a special duty assignment, and later on at a DoD organization in Wash, DC. He made it up to GS-14 or 15, but we lost contact when I retired in 2014. Last I heard he was still living in Fairfax or Loudon county in VA; I moved to NC to be more free.
