No rant, just a pet peeve

A while back, I forget the topic, I complained about something or other and some other people said, live and let live, be peaceful et cetera.

That got me to thinking about pet peeves. I don’t have many, I don’t think. Some situations annoy me, like going into stores with pushy sales people. So I do my best to avoid those stores. Best Buy comes to mind. You can go into a Best Buy and 5 or 6 sales people will come and ask how are you, find everything ok? I’ve been in that store only twice in the past 10 years.

But after reading the rants threads, I’m glad I’m not the only one with a pet peeve. Perhaps with the demise of the cooking section, there could be a “Rant” section of the forum.

Oh, here’s another pet peeve. I was looking at a different gun forum, and there are more advertisements than topics of conversation. Plus! You couldn’t view any pictures unless you became a member! Jerks!

Commission sales people need to make a living. Sure beats wandering Home Depot trying to find someone---anyone that knows anything beside when break time is.

Join the forum and get yourself some ad blocking on your computer. You will probably be happy you did both.

I had the opposite experience at Best Buy:

Years ago I was working at my computer and the damn monitor blew up... no joke, there was an explosion and flash in the back... I needed to finish what I was doing and so the only place on a Saturday or Sunday I knew to go to for a monitor was Best Buy... I went in and no one came to help... I found the monitor on display I could afford and was looking up at the top of the rack where Monitors were stored and a guy came by and asked if he could help... I pointed to the one on display and said I wanted that one and he looked up and said, "we are all out of that one" and then walked off... I just stood there confused for a while and then went and got a ladder and pulled down the next choice I had.

I had just the opposite experience at a Menards store a few years past. Being a "cheap skate" as some would call it, I was wearing a military BDU jacket and military issue "desert" boots(both patterns decades later than what was issued to me). I was mostly passing time when a couple of young male employees approached and asked if they could assist me. I responded that I was in town for a meeting the next day and just wasting time w/o any real purchase in mind and thanked them. Instead of moving on, one of the young men commented on my boots and that the manager had recognized me as possibly a veteran and had assigned the boys to assist me in any way possible. They were ROTC cadets and seemed really interested in their task. We walked and talked for probably 20 minutes and then I thanked them and left. As I was leaving, the boys finally asked my rank and time of service so they could tell their manager.

Hi...
I do have a couple of pet peeves.
I hate those ridiculous reflective gazing balls that people put in their yards.
Just flat out hate them...no reason other than I hate them.

I hate the paper cups that soft drinks come in at fast food restaurants now that the do gooders have tried to ban plastic cups.

Probably a couple more that I can't recall at the moment.

I hate people who have no concept of national defense, chanting "Thank you for your serrrvice!" like the flippant "Have a nice dayyyy".

I'll add one of mine involving voice mail.
I call lots of people daily, getting the usual message
about "please leave a detailed message.....".
So I do, explaining whatever question or information
they need. Seventeen seconds up to about two days later,
somebody will call me and their first words are "did you call me?".
Not who they are....nothing!
Once I figure out who they are and why I might have called them
I get to repeat the story. With customer's ( well most ) I just
bite my tongue and politely repeat as needed. With vendors and
people who know me well I've sometimes gotten to the point of
telling them to go listen to the detailed #$%^ &**^ message
they asked for and hang up.
I have a few friends who now call me and lead off with " did you call me"

Mine is stupid drivers. Slow drivers that since they are not in a hurry everybody behind them has to go 10, 15 or 20 MPH under the speed limit. The ones who think a stop sign is a suggestion and will just blast out in front of you with no distance so you have to slam on your breaks to avoid hitting them. At times road rage can be understood.
