I just got a call,,, that APPEARED to be from a legit local number. I answered with my normal; "Nuisance Wildlife".

It took a moment,, then a live person came on & started her spiel about "Hi my name is Rebecca & I previously helped you with your medicare advantage" etc.
Well, I've not signed up with medicare yet. So,,,,,,,,,, knowing she was bogus,, I waited until she asked me a question. Then I responded in Russian with a common non-related phrase. There was a pause,,,, then she asked me again,, and I then responded in French with another common phrase. (Different comment.)
Another pause. Then she asked me if I could respond in english. I came back with vietnamese, and a 3rd common phrase. Another pause. She again asked me to use english. I then responded with a goodbye in Russian.

I'll bet she feels ignorant today!

When I have the spare time I'll answer an unknown number & after giving them about 15 seconds to determine that it's one of "them" I'll hit them with "wait, wait, hold on a minute, I have to go turn the stove off". I'll put the phone on speaker & set it down, then see how long it takes them to start asking "are you there? Hello? Hello!" & how many times they do before they hang up. One idiot took it to 22 mins.

I don't get many but I do like to mess with them

Male or female, I always ask what they are wearing and that they sound sexy. Goes downhill from there.

Often put them on speaker so wife can listen

I’ve been getting a lot of unsolicited calls regarding selling 2.5 acres I have. It’s worth about 100k. I always respond with $1.75 million firm. About 1/2 ask how I came up with that figure. To which I reply out my butt just like where you got my number.

You could just yell from a distance, "I've fallen and I can't get up" Then let the line go dead.

I usually tell them I recently passed away and the family is in mourning; so please lose my number.

I've also said, 'Hold on please. Let me go find him.' Set down the phone and go about my day.

I've been getting this garbage since the beginning of the year all with the same crap..."Medicare Advantage" plan. In the beginning there were sometimes over 40 calls per day. I had the call block feature which I used all the time, but it was to no avail because if I called them back, a message came on that it was an "out of service" number. Then I got this very loud shrill whistle that I'd blow when a human started their spiel. One eardrum exploder after another! They did hang up but didn't stop them from recalling under another bogus number. I've now grown to recognize the location they're calling from, so I just pick the receiver up and press the off button within a second or less. That seems to work the best.

I’m newly in Medicare with a Humana prescription plan. I recently got a call from a number that came up on my caller ID as Humana. Well, I wasn’t in the mood so I let it go to voicemail. The voicemail was very legit sounding, like the prerecorded voice that you always get from medical facilities. But something was off, so I called Humana directly and guess what? Thant was not their number calling. I told the person how my iPhone recognized it as a Humana number. Nope, it wasn’t. That’s potentially dangerous for a lot of people who trust their caller ID. Humana is starting an investigation (supposedly) and I blocked the number. These crooks are getting more sophisticated every day.

Telemarketers: Another good reason to learn as many foreign languages as one can:

Mandarin Chinese: Nǐ hǎo

FUNNY, just as I was responding to this post, I got a telemarketer... :ROFLMAO:

When I had a land like I would spew obscenities and often they would say "you can't talk to me like that"!

I'd reply "you called MY $!**#% phone I can say anything I want"
