Received an E-mail late last night, ostensibly from SS that starts out:
"Dear Patrick:
Your Social Security Statement is streamlined and easier
to read than ever before. That is because we have
redesigned the Statement to provide you the most useful
information up front and at a glance."
The first thing I did was to do a "sniff test" on the URL. Since it is ss.gov it looks
like it could be reasonable. UNTIL I checked it against the SS login I've had for
several years that has one qualifier ahead of what they say it is (I'm not including
it here so anyone from the internet will not have the URL handed to them).
First suspicious thing is it is written in "people speak" rather that .gov speak.
Second is that I was told/asked to supply information that they already have!
Anyone else on SS receive something like this? - - - If yes, by a BUNCH of
others, then it could easily be good. If not . . . IMO . . . a new SCAM!
Have fun, shoot safe. ;)
