New SR9C

Was at the Atlanta gun show yesterday and after a fruitless search for MKIIs I was on the way out. I spotted a guy carrying a black Ruger box and it was an SR9C. He claimed had been fired once and looked it. I had been thinking about getting one for a few months. I purchased it for $350.00 it was the SS model. I got home and scrounged up about 20 rds of 9MM. Put up an old IPSC target and at about 15 yds put all rounds in about 4" at fairly rapid fire. All I can say is WOW. I could not believe how nice the trigger was. I have shot a lot of compact guns and have never had one that shot and felt as good as the SR9C. Looks like Ruger did this one right.Now that has me thinking of getting the SR9.

Glad you're enjoying the pistol. One thing you should read up on is the magazine disconnect device in the SR9 series. If you dry fire the gun without a magazine, damage can result unless you remove the magazine disconnect. There is a sticky at the top of this forum with details about modifications well worth the read. Removal of the disconnector is quite simple should you choose to do it.

Aside from that, enjoy the pistol. I've had mine about a month and couldn't be more pleased with it.

I love my sr9c. Just got back from the range with it as a matter of fact. Was talking to one of the guys that works there (its where I bought mine) and he said ppl have been calling constantly to see when they are going to get more in. Looks like its become very popular.

Congrats on the purchase! I've put about 250 rounds through mine without any problems. I don't have any regrets with this being my first gun.

Picked up my SR9C yesterday and today got 150 rounds in after work. WOW...did I make the right choice. 8) I haven't shot much the last several years and only had the security 6 357 magnum for HD, so this is my first semi-auto. Decided to get something more compact and semi-auto for travel and SD and possibly get a CC permit down the road.

For laying off so long I was shocked at the ease and accuracy of this gun. I seemed to do a bit better with the longer 17 round mag but that may be more mental then actual. The gun itself was 100% perfect and I'm really looking forward to putting a bunch more rounds down the range.

I've decided to put an SR9c on my list of 'wants'.

I printed out a to scale picture of one and over laid a picture of my favorite carry gun... a Sig 230 and the two are almost the exact same size.

I am also looking to "replace" my P230 with an SR9c as my CC gun, and I took the Sig with me when I went to look at the SR9c. Yes, outside dimensions are very, very close, and to be honest, if your Sig still has the bulky factory plastic grips like mine does, there is virtually no difference in the width of the grip between the 2 guns......which to me is amazing considering the Ruger has a double-stack mag! The biggest difference is the the width of the slide. The Ruger is considerably thicker thru the entire slide. We put both guns (unloaded) on the scale, and they were very close......I forget exaclty, but it wasn't enough difference to matter much.....maybe an ounce and a half or 2 oz difference.

PS....My Sig is all stainless, so if yours has the alloy frame, there will be more of a weight difference between the Sig and Ruger.
