New SR9c First Reports

Well after a long time trying to decide what to get next, and after reading the forums for a while I decided to try my luck with the SR9C. I guess you could call it a little birthday present to myself. I must say I had some high expectations with the mostly positive reviews I have read here, and I am proud to admit it lived up to them all. Took it to the range put around 150 rounds through it without a single misfire. Looks like the glocks will be seeing a bit of safe time.

Congrats on your new SR9c! I've only got 100 rounds through mine. I'm going to try and get to the range this weekend and put some more through her. Love this gun!

Love mine. Got about 800 rounds through her. Just need to find time to get her sighted in with my wife shooting it... it is her gun afterall.... lol

After trying out the LCP and the LC9... I absolutely love my SR9c... Best thing I've bought (next to the SR9).

Hello. Brand new to Ruger and this forum. First time to the range today with my new SR9c. Cleaned/oiled it up good last night. What I had read about Ruger putting a lot of gook on their guns was true. Loved it from the first bang! However, after a couple of mags I started having the trigger problem I have been reading about in this forum. A round would load in the chamber but the trigger was not returning to its forward position. I didn't force it. My response was to rack the slide and eject one round and the trigger would go forward. This happened about 6-8 times. I did not pay attention whether it was happening with the 10 or 17 round mag. Another thorough cleaning (normal breakdown) is in order and I'll try again. I have to say I love this gun but I can't help being disappointed. My only other semi-auto is a Beretta 92FS which after several hundred rounds has yet to have as much as a hiccup. Again, I love the look and feel of this gun and I was shooting good groups at the range. I sure hope cleaning and breakin straightens this problem out. It was my plan for this to be my carry gun but don't know at this point.

Freeman, two choices- go ahead and send it back, which is my suggestion- you can shoot 200 rounds as a break-in and it costs ya what- $80 ? Or go ahead and have em fix it and save some money. I know some say try the break-in first, but Ive done that with a different pistol, from Davidsons, and they sent me a new one. Had to shoot a hundred rounds and now the 2nd one is messed up. From now on it goes to the manufacturer when I see a problem.

Thanks for the advice jeffadaklin. You make good sense. SR9C will be picked up by UPS on Monday for a trip to Arizona. They claim 10 to 15 day turnaround. We'll see! I have to admit I was impressed with the customer service at Ruger. Still a little bummed out about a $400 item not working properly out of the box. Can't wait to get it back. Thanks again.

I had the same problem with mine, Hopefully Ruger will fix it. But several have came back with same problem. Here is how I fixed mine. I do not advise you do this, I advise you to send it back to Ruger. This fixed mine, but If you do it only at you're own risk. Just send it back to Ruger.

I bent the L shape on the bottom of the bar to more of a 90 Degree bend. Like what is in this picture. Also removed the Mag Safety on mine. Just as the picture shows.

This will loosen up the pressure against the Trigger Bar and allow the trigger to reset. It makes a much smoother trigger.

Mine was back in 15 days to the minute just about. But I mentioned on another post, they aren't giving you any notice, a tracking number, so you don't know when it's gonna show up. I asked Ruger to notify me and they said they would- and didn't. Suggestions? I have none- what more can ya do than ask em, and have em agree to it?

I remembered reading about this return shipping problem from previous posts. I intended to discuss it with the rep on the phone. Before I mentioned it, she told me to include a note with the gun with the usual name and address, nature of problem etc. and also in large letters that I wanted to be notified when it shipped with an expected delivery date. Yeah I know! Words are cheap. We'll see what happens. Thanks.
