Just bought another Mini 14 from a "Gallery of guns" teaser e-mail. It's a stainless 16"bbl, synthetic stock "LE" and comes with two twenty round mags. I love these guns. I have an older pencil barrel stainless that is my favorite carbine, parked in the corner as I type. It is my go to gun. BTW, the AR is in the safe I think, it doesn't get out much. How about it, anybody else?

Same here; love my Mini 14. Heard all the stories from the folks saying these guns don't shoot. Can't prove it by me.

My Mini is my "go to" gun, too. Had an AR and sold it. My Mini is the special run with a Circassian stock. Love it.

That is one beautiful stock.Excellent group too. I'm rough on em so I prefer the synthetic myself.
As far as shooting accurately, I can hit everything I aim at out to about a hundred yards or so and that suits me just fine. I am just an average shooter, plinker really, and if I can hit a pumpkin at that distance, I am tickled pink! I do own one scope but it's still in the box.
I am happy too with the fact that out of four Minis both 14's and 30's I have owned, I have never had that first failure. I can say the same thing about my AR's but the round count on any of those is miniscule compared to the Mini's. The Mini just suits me more and I never enter into the AR v. Mini v. Ak etc. debate. I just buy and shoot what I like the most.

I used to think that black plastic guns were a crime against nature until I bought a Savage Edge in 30 06, with scope, brand new, for $300. That rifle consistently shoots 1/2-groups with my standard 30 06 load (52 grains of 4320 with a Hornady 130-grain JSP). I still like fancy wood, but that cheap Savage's accuracy is scary good.

I don't remember who made it. It does give quite a blast. Firing my Mini is not bad for me, but the guys on either side of me at the range tend to move to further positions pretty quickly. Surprising so much blast comes from a .223.

I looked at the Brownell's picture and I think you are right. The folks who put it on for me were a bit arrogant and very tough to get consistent answers from. It got to the point that I just wanted to get my rifle and get out of their store. I asked who made the muzzle break, the sales dude at the counter didn't know (he didn't know a lot of things, including when the rifle would be ready over the course of several phone calls), and I just got tired of dealing with them. Never been back; don't ever intend to go back.

Gatling, the note on your target indicates an OAL of 2.50". That would not feed through the magazine and the cartridges pictured look about like 2.25" which is standard. Is 2.50 a mistake? I see your group of 1.3" was at 50 yards. What do you get at 100 yards?

Picked up the new Mini today. Quite a bit of grease on this one but otherwise a beauty. The barrel is really shortened on it, 16.12" I believe and no flash hider. Yeah! Looks much shorter than the numbers say when standing beside the pencil model beside it. A very welcomed addition to my little Ruger collection. :D

Sounds like a 5820 and they have a shorter LOP as well. 12.75" instead of 13.5". Very handy little carbines IMO. Ruger needs to market the LE models better because they are so sweet. Any pics?

A 5820 it is. I'll do my best to get some pics up tomorrow. This is a very handy Mini. When I accepted the Davidson quote to order it there were 9 available. The next evening they were all gone. I realize 9 is a small number but I believe if Ruger promoted this model more it would take off. Thanks for the heads up about the LOP Al, it is indeed shorter.

About the same length as a PC carbine...with just a tad more firepower

Perfect. Are you going to scope it or leave it irons only?

I 'll probably just leave it with the irons. I'm thinking I'll make it my new truck gun due to it's handiness. I was thinking the same thing about the PC9, this will just have a bit more bite but will handle just as quick. I wouldn't have thought that little bit off the stock would make as much difference as it does. It feels much better than an M4 to me, much quicker for me too.
