I hope this will be a red hot seller.
I have owned and/or shot many Bearcats thru the years, and few of them had sights that were regulated to my shooting. So this adjustable sight version could have saved me some money. 8)

That just could be the greatest trail or kit gun ever. I never handled a bearcat. I have big hands and would be concerned if they would be too small?

I always wanted one when I was a kid but my Dad got a used Single Six instead which I shot as my first hand gun ever when I was 6. Flash forward and when Ruger reintroduced them I wanted one of the new SS ones bad so ordered one. While I was waiting for it I found a NIB early one also. So now I have two and my hands are sort of too big for them. Still they are cute and fun to shoot.
I have XL hands. They're not really thick but still XL. It was 20 years ago when I decided I needed a Bearcat. My 4" J frame S&W M-34 Kit Gun took a backseat to the Bearcat. Yes, it's small, but I find the grip to fit me better than the S&W. You won't know until you hold one. It's def. a pinky finger under grip.bogus bill said:

I only shot one one time. It belonged to a friend. I could barley get my finger in the trigger guard. I like the looks but not the feel.
I have my Dad's that he bought in the 60's. Great gun. Carried it on many, many fishing trips. The snakes and snapping turtles fear it!

I have heard others say that so I measured the trigger guard hole on my Single Six and my Bearcats and was surprised. The gap between the front edge of the trigger guard on my Single Six is nearly the identical size as the gap between the front edge of the trigger guard and the trigger on my Bearcats. Fox Mike , Thinking back, It may be that the trigger on that gun was farther forward than normal when the hammer was down. I have not handled a Bearcat since and that one was a LOOONG time ago. I much prefer the Single Six and own several of them.
My paws are large but not huge.
I may not be giving the Bearcat a fair chance to earn my favor. There is a new stainless one at my LGS, I will go and handle it some. :wink:
It will have some to go though to beat out this one for feeling good in the hand.

I just cocked both the Bearcat and the Single Six. Guess what...the Single Six trigger moves further forward than the Bearcat (the trigger on the Cat actually moves back when cocked.)Chuck 100 yd said:

I wonder if there is enough meat in the top strap to "flat-top" it, then use the Micro rear sight of the current Flattop Blackhawks. That to me would be the ultimate in looks. I will be ordering a stainless one once they are available. Seems everything Lipseys comes up with, I have to have it!

Hey Guys,
We should start seeing the adjustable sight Bearcats next week sometime. After sending a few out for testing they realized the front sight height wasn't right so they went and changed all the ones that were built. These are a Lipsey's Exclusive and we will have both blue and stainless models.

Not to rain on the parade, but the Bearcat just seemed made for basic sights as original. Adjustable sights is like t*** on a boar. JMHO.

So, I applaud the option of adjustable sights on this gun. If a guy doesn't want them, then he can still buy the fixed-sight model.

As a matter of perspective:
I worked with the previous Lipsey's special Bearcat, that little round-butt cutie with fixed sights.
Yesterday I worked with the new adjustable-sighted Lipsey's special Bearcat.
The first was so appealing when I saw it at the SHOT Show I nosed the gun around & talked an editor into a piece on it.
Idea was to try it out first before buying, and to let readers know about it.
At the range its accuracy, group-wise, was 15 yard-ish. Usable, but far from what I wanted it to be able to do.
Elevation-wise, it shot low, even at 15 yards.
The short barrel with short ejector rod would not fully eject empties.
I had a couple brands show mildly sticky extraction, and saw other Internet commentary along the same lines.
That all reflected only one sample, by & large, but considering I would have had to work on the front blade to bring up the impacts & on that gun would've had to have a gunsmith go through the chambers, on top of the 15-yard accuracy, I returned it to Ruger when I was done.
Cuter'n hell, but not quite....there, for me at least.
On the other hand, the new gun has a very visible sight picture, it came nearly zeroed right out of the box, it can be easily adjusted (without a file) to match any load at any realistic distance you want to shoot to, it can do at 25 yards what the little round-butt could only do at 15, and extraction was perfect. Nothing showed the slightest signs of even thinking about being sticky.
I understand the appeal of the trim lines of the sightless Bearcats.
Ruger still makes them for those who prefer 'em.
But- if actually HITTING something at longer distances without having to By Guess & By Golly it is a high priority, these sights are an immense improvement.
Super backpack & survival product. Excellent learner for small-handed kidlings. Fun plinker.
I think they'll sell.

thank you Jason, again, "options" and as the picture shows there is a LOT more "beef" ( metal) on the top strap to allow for a "proper" installation of an adjustable rear sight body assembly....NOT a notch cut into an "EXISTING" style ( form ) of New Bearcat...looks more to us like a 'mini' Single Six.....
hopefully the price will be BETTER than the S&W model 63 and its optional single/double action concept and being the early "kit guns" of their line in "stainless"...I still love the early model 34 short barrel 'kit guns'.......a true gun for ones "kit"...............yeas ago I had a cut down Bearcat, 3 in barrel, NO ejector housing, nor front sight but a "back packing" (kit?) along the lines of a sheriffs model Colt single action...wish I knew where that gun went to , today????? easy enough to 'replicate' and all the more , in "stainless".....hhhhmmmmmmm (they came close with the "shopkeeper") 8) :roll: :wink:

IF you get lucky and fixed sights are actually hit to POA or you are able to regulate them to, I feel they are a improvement over adjustable sights. The adjustable s can be sharp, go out of wack, weigh slightly more etc. I usually adjust them only once. Now if a guy owns just one large caliber gun and wants to experiment with different bullet weights and loads sure, they are nice. Truth is most gun site types on these boards own many guns and I suspect like me, arent into playing with many different loads for each gun. I tried that many years ago for a short while and still have a lot of handful's of different 40 year old loads sitting around in mass confusion!
