I just purchased a "NEW" 77/22 .22 LR :) All Weather w/Boat Paddel Stock. The guy said he has had the gun in his store for 3 Years! Is there any way to tell from the serial number when the gun was made? Is there anything that is better/worse about old/new manufacture of these guns?

Thanks Brad

Older should use the v block for barrel instal.Newer will be threaded barrel.Better,I really don't know.Mine is a vblock design and shoots great.I switch barrels back and forth from 22 lr to 17M2.Slow

Welcome to the Forum!
We can give you the year of manufacture if you post the serial number. You can leave off the last 2 or 3 digits if you wish.

Or you view the secret archives of Ruger to get your answer:

Do you have to do anything other than switch barrels to shoot the other ammo?

Oh I sure do.Several 10-22 and a H&R 17M2.Roght now my 77-22 is set up for 17 HMR.Had to switch out the breech block to chamber the mag size rounds and the bottom metal, but it sure does shoot fine. Now I'm able to go from 22lr-17M2 and switch out to 22 mag and 17 HMR.Also have a H&R 22 mag.Doesn't take long and three to five shots and the scope is back on where it should be.Dave
