Not up to date on the Ruger 22s so much..Never really cared for the 10-22 although I do have one....somewhere.. And I do have a 77-22 Hornet. I have had a lot of hornets over the years. This is the most accurate Hornet I've ever shot....I even have a pre War Supergrade M-70 and the Ruger will shoot rings around it. All that said I just found a really nice 77-22. In 98% (or better) condition.... Has a nice older Redfield widefield 4 power scope. Don'y know much about them and was wondering about price of course but are they generally accurate...any problems. I would probably buy this and give it ti one of the grand kids. I want them to have a nice useable gun, I just bought a 100th year Marlin 39 for my granddaughter...she's about to turn 16 and she aced her hunter safety...so... This would probably go to a 14 YO grandson... A rough idea on price would be great and a little history on quality I guess. Most of my Ruger's are handguns. Thanks in advance....oh BTW they are asking 400 for the gun but think I can buy it for 350 or so...maybe...LOL

⬆️ “What Wayno said,” x 2!

Price sounds very good, if condition is as described.

Worst case scenario, if it doesn’t meet your accuracy expectations, you should have no problem getting your money back out of it.

Man, that sounds like a heck of a find! $350 for a 98% 77-22 with a vintage Redfield Widefield on top? That's a solid deal in my book. Those older Redfields are quality glass too perfect for a grandkid's first bolt gun.

I have had mine since 87 or so. Like any other 22 it shows its preferences for different ammo. The target photo is a 50 yard benchrest group with some department store Federal ammo that I'll readily admit was more luck than skill but it shows the rifle's capabilities. I love the fact that it shares the same safety as my 308 hunting rifle. The 22 got me started on my affliction with the Ruger 77 MK II rifles. The 77/22's are really an under appreciated American bolt action rimfire rifle and I wouldn't even dicker for a nice one with a scope for four Benjamins.

Just thought I'd get back to this.. I bought the 77-22 for 300 dollars. I was wrong about the scope.. It has a Redfield Widefield 2x7 scope on it ...This is the version with the iron sights ... The darn thing is really substantial for a 22 bolt gun. . Haven't shot it yet to speak of. I have a part of a box of the Winchester LRs with the lighter Tin bullets they made...shot a few through the 39 Century and they were ok. Don't know if they would operate a semi auto though. I am trying to find a nice Rem 552 Deluxe.. but this fellow still has that little Belgian Browning rifle...I may just buy it...for the right price...LOL!...
He didn't have a regular 10 round mag for the rifle...I found one in a drawer in the shop. But it did have an extended Ruger mag though...

They are going for twice that without a scope!!! (trust me, I want one in .22 Mag, and .17HMR, I've been watching).

I do not know anything about the 77 rimfires, but the centerfires I have are accurate as hell... more so than I am at least.
