New 41M flattop came in today.

Needs some decent grips plus a little work on the trigger and then it can go out with me to play!

:D :D

Claimbuster, Welcome to the forum. With any brand new model of Blackhawk I immediately completely disassemble and clean out every nook and corner. While it is apart I make and fit an extended hammer plunger to avoid cylinder drag lines. http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=21148&highlight=plunger

I also reshape the trigger spring:

Plus, of course, polishing the hammer and trigger sear areas which is also vital for a good trigger pull.

Thanks for the pointers. Admittedly I'm a whole lot better S&W mechanic than Ruger SA mechanic, so there will be some learning to do.

This is my third new flattop plus I have a conventional new Blackhawk in 45LC.

I think I mentioned elsewhere that my first gun purchase was a Single Six in 1959 at age 15. Sold it two years later to buy a S&W M27 and haven't owned another Ruger SA up until four years ago. If it was a revolver it had to be S&W. This new Ruger thing is a hoot and I'm having a great time.

May even have to get another Single Six!

I blame that John Taffin guy!

You might try CaryC of CLC custom grips, a frequent contributer here for a pair of his deluxe grips. Rodfac

I will second for Cary C. Sending him my Ruger FT Bisley frame for a set of grips today. Have his on my 41 FT and also on my two Bowen conversions of an OMBH to 44 Special and 41 Special. Very nice work and prompt on completion as well.
And by the way, anyone have favorite loads for a lead SWC in the 41 Special?

mhblaw....I've had good luck with 215 gr SWC's over 6.5 gr of HP38 or Win 231 for a chrono'd 1006 fps velocity. This load in based on using .41 Magnum brass...not .41 Special brass...please take note. It's a 1" grouping load at 25 yds if I'm doing my part...Regards and note the .41 Mag brass component. The pic shows my efforts with a NMBH and that load, the Flat Top does as well. Rodfac
