I have always wanted a 10mm gun but was put off by the manufacture's high prices. Then I found a HI-POINT 10mm on Gun Genie (Davidsons) for $179. I couldn't believe the price and ordered it about 3 weeks ago. It came in a carboard box with one 10 round magazine. What surprised me is the gun is a tank - 49oz heavy, real heavy. And the slide is damn near impossible to rack (at least by me). Taking it apart for cleaning was a real chore as I had to hold the heavy slide 3/8" toward the back then lift it up and push it forward to get it off. OK, I used one of the videos on Utube to help in doing it right. After cleaning it, putting it back together wasn't too bad, just fighting the slide spring all the way. It was really dirty, as if they shot it 3 or more times. Oiled it up and it's good for many years and a few hundred rounds before I have to do this again.
SO, is this gun worth it??? Maybe for a younger person with more strength than I have to rack the slide and hold it up and shoot it. It seems to be made reasonably good, there are no sharp corners and everything goes together ok. Havent shot it yet but will do that in the next few days. However I think I'll have to sell it eventually due to it's enormous weight.

You've already bought it. I wouldn't write it off without shooting it. I don't know your financial situation but if you keep an eye out online deals pop up from time to time. I didn't have the cash to do anything about it but I remember around Christmas last year PSA had Taylor & co. (made by Rock Island) 1911's for under $400. Most of what I have read about the RIA guns has been positive. I don't have a lot of gun buying money so I have to watch my E-mail notifications & sites like Gun.Deals & bide my time until a good deal on what I want coincides with me having the extra money to buy something. It is a patience game for me.

WalMart is great. One of the places I can go and at least look and feel like I am normal. :)
I was surprised recently I went into Wal-Mart for something else my wife wanted & noticed they had some Wrangler button up shirts. I wound up buying one & my wife went back & got me another one. I am sure they aren't the best quality but they are decent looking casual shirts for $20.00. I think they might be getting better about some things.

I like the warranty, lifetime and for anything, no questions asked. You can run it over with a semi truck and they will fix or replace it free. Unlike the ruger F9, there is no play in the slide to frame, so it should be fairly accurate. I did polish the feed ramp as several people have said the gun had some cartridge jams and polishing the ramp cured that problem. (I had the same problem on my Kel Tec PMR30 and installed and polished a SS ramp to correct it).

I looked it up and the specs say how heavy it is, surprised you were surprised by the mass of the thing. Tell you, I’d be somewhat hesitant to be touching off hot 10mm in that thing so close to my mug. Hope it works out for you and give us some range impressions.

There is a reason for the lifetime warranty. I would hope that their quality control improved over the years. I bought one of their 40mm handguns years ago. Had so much trouble with it they replaced it. 2nd one wasn't much better so I traded that one for a Taurus (great revolvers, lousy semi autos). Not to be discouraged I got one of their 9mm carbines when they 1st came out. When it functioned it was very accurate at 100 yards. After the 3rd return to them I traded that for a CZ75B 9MM. Still have that and it's still my most accurate 9mm. Recently I picked up one if their 45ACP carbines on GB. So far the only issue is the front sight which came loose. I called and they sent set of screws but they didn't fit. Super glued it and that's holding for the present.

1st 40mm( recoil must be horrendous!). So many issues they replaced it.
2nd one sucked so traded
9mm Carbine sent back 3 times then traded
45 carbine site loose and they can’t send the correct screws to fix

you sure are committed to a really bad company

I have a few highpoints. They are good truck guns. They are surprisingly accurate for their price. Their weight helps with recoil and thus stay on target easier than a plastic gun which seems to be the big deal lately. I have a 10MM in their carbine rifle and I really like it for it's accuracy. I don't like their triggers but there's not much you can do with them.

LOL. In my defense it was over 30 years from my initial experience with Hi-Point and the 45ACP carbine. I got a really good deal (as long as the carbine holds up). The carbine, a hard case, 1 10 round mag and 3 20 round ones, and a red dot scope and flashlight which I sold on eBay all for under $250. Back then I didn't have a lot of firearms so the 9mm was being shot a lot. I only shoot the 45ACP every few months so hopefully it will hold up. If not, there's that lifetime warranty.:-)

"Blowback 10mm" sounds like an invitation to some expensive dental work and facial reconstruction surgery.

The Hi-Point "Yeet Cannon" made me wonder what was supposed to get yeeted: The slide under full recoil impulse, or the whole gun, off a convenient bridge, after use in "social situations." At $179 each they're pretty much disposable.

Not sure if Palmetto State Armory is offering their Glock clone in a 10mm version, but I think I'd rather take a chance on them than Hi-Point. I'd actually like to try out one of their 9mm Daggers (G19 clone).

The Dagger is only available in 9mm. I have about lost track of how many different slide configurations they have. I have the original version with what they call "carry cuts". I like it fine. I'm not the best but I took it with me to a friends. His buddy that is an old competition shooter shot it. He basically did a mag dump alternating between hitting 2 steel targets & keeping a spinner spinning. I probably spent more on it than I should have. I paid extra for cerakote & night sights. In hind sight I should have just got the night sights. You can pretty much configure them however you like. There is a Dagger group on F-book one can join if they want to see the different things people are doing with them.

I do want to find out how the 10mm Hi-Point does. There was a fellow on another forum making a lot of noise about wanting one when they first came out. I never saw a range report though. If it is a good shooter it may be hard to part with.

Taurus (lousy semi autos)?
Oh contraire!
I saw a new Taurus G2C for $200 at the gun store and I thought
“Boat Gun”. It followed me home.
This thing runs! It shoots everything I put in it like a champ.
I have Colt, Kimber, S&W, Sig, Ruger and H&K but, this little Taurus gets to ride in the boat.

I watched a few videos on the gun and they seem to have good luck with the gun as it performs well with little recoil. Next week I'm going to the range to see for myself.
