My sister had a hard time mastering her 6" S&W 28 Highway Patrolman.
She named him "Rickets" cause he wouldn't shoot straight.
Now she has a 4" S&W 66 and a 2" .357 Chief's Special to keep Rickets company.The 66 is "Scurvy" (Just to go along with the Vitamin Deficiency Scheme.)
She's dallied with "Beri-Beri" or perhaps "Kwashiorkor" for the 2" S&W 60--or maybe "Pellagra" She hasn't decided on a name yet.

My brother and I were watching The Dark Knight on blu ray with surround sound and we are at the part of the movie where The Joker interrupts Harvey Dent's fundraiser that Bruce Wayne is hosting for him and The Joker has a revolver that we thought at the time was like the gun I had on my hip, a Ruger Speed Six .357, and my brother yells out "The Joker" and it hit me and has stuck from that day on.
It kinda gives the same mean appeal when its loaded with some hot hollow points.....
I have done some Google research since that day and the revolver in that scene is supposedly a S & W model 65.

Every time I bring out a revolver with anything longer than a 4" barrel my wife asks about the "huge" gun, and if it's what the Joker (Nicholson's) used when he shot down the Bat Plane.
When I put a 14" barrel on my Contender she really thought it was nuts:
(Yes, the forend is too short for that barrel.)
She isn't much of a gun girl...

I thought that this was a silly question until about 3 days ago when
an olive drab green painted Ruger Security Six, "4 barrel, .357 mag.
that I purchased off of Gunbroker arrived here.
I was going to stirp off the paint but decided not to, and since it is green
and it is very stout, I am going to call it SHREK. It does look like the kind
of gun only an Ogre could love.

I haven't bothered to name any of my firearms.
My wife has names for all of her firearms though. She's told me the names multiple times but I shoot a lot and my "hearing" seems to shut off at times. Works amazingly well when watching sports or military programs...

I call my 35 year old NM Super Blackhawk "Old Death and Destruction". But I'm not sure that's really a name.

Well, this one is "big ugly", the .41 Magnum with alot of holster wear.
I once had a 20 gauge JC Higgins that I had the barrel shortened to 19 inches and it had the youth stock. That was "thumper"
My Ithaca Deerslayer just goes by its name, Deerslayer (although in honesty it kills everything from grouse, coyotes, and deer.
My 1853 Enfield Musketoon has earned the name "Napoleon" being so short and yet very effective.
As far as others naming their guns, Buffalo Bill cody named his 1863 Springfield conversion (2nd Allin) .50-70, "Lucretia Borgia" after a murderous and beautiful woman in a Victor Hugo play. It was with this gun that cody earned the moniker of Buffalo Bill. Here is the only known photo of Cody with Lucretia Borgia. Cody is seated on the right.
