I have applied nicknames to my modest collection of toys:

Ruger GP100 .38/.357 : Big Bill (named after Bill Ruger)
Ruger 22/45 .22 : Little Bill
Kimber Ultra CDP .45 : Cousin Kim
1911 .45 acp : War Horse (gift from WWII vet father in law)
S&W .38 snub nose: Smitty

Have you named your collection as well? :?:

No, too many to keep straight.

I have enough trouble remembering the names of PEOPLE I know!

No, I don't name my guns, but I know some people do.

I've only named one gun in my life - a Walther PPK that chewed the skin in my hand between the thumb and trigger finger. Forum rules prevent me from posting the names I gave that gun that day.

I once owned a three-inch chambered thiry-inch full/full barreled winchester 101. It killed chucker, ducks, geese, partridge, and pheasants with such regularity that I named it "ole bitter".

No names, unless 'she' is a name :) . "She sure shoots good"... "Took her out to shoot some holes. Boy she puts 'em right in there" ....

Yup
"Matilda" -Fn Fal
"Old Satan" - After EK's horse - A USFA 44 special
"PJ" - M4

... The other 20 or so shall remain nameless

I haven't yet gone that route, naming my pieces. For those that use female type names, make sure the wife knows of them. In case you talk in your sleep. It'll save you from a violent wake up with a frying pan ! steve b

I have two Bisleys, one a 44mag named 'Big Brother' and the other a 357mag named 'Little Sister'. I also have an SP for CCW that is called 'Little Friend', as in, "Do you have your 'Little Friend' with you?" :D :D

Geez I have enough trouble remembering the designations the companies gave them. :?

Maybe if I gave them names I could remember them!

This one has, on occasion, been called Cassie. By my Wife, of course!

Nope, not really.

My very first Ruger single action, a stainless Bisley Vaquero in .357 mag with the white grips, really wanted to be called Duke, but for some reason Daisy seemed to fit better.

I've had a couple of thumpers I've wanted to refer to as "Mjolnir", for Thor's Hammer, but it really doesn't roll off the tongue.

I just picked up a #3 rifle in .45-70, and am tempted to name it "Dr. Martin" after the first chiropractor I ever went to... :D

Only one. My personal variation of the Keith #5-a NM Blackhawk 357/9mm with 4 5/8 barrel, Bisley grip & hammer. For obvious reasons, I call it the Tim 3 1/2.

Sam-I have a .54 cal Lyman Great Plains rifle and a matching Great Plains pistol I thought about naming Thor & Odin. Sacreligious maybe? Or just worshiping the old gods of my ancestors. My grandfathers name was Olaf. Maybe that's just as good.

I have an old No 1 MKIII Lee Enfield rifle. One time I told my wife I thought it looked sexy.

I slept on the couch for a week.

Beretta 96 Centurion: GINA
Beretta 8040F Mini Cougar: GIADA
Beretta 1201FPG3: WICKED VICKI
Bushmaster Dissipator: DARLENE
Browning BAR MkII 7mm: DIANA ( Goddess of the Hunt )
Marlin 1895 / .45-70: XENA

Any more and I might appear to be slightly eccentric...

I love them.
They love me.
:)

I have referred to my 41 and 44 magnums as "the fat ladies", because when they sing, it's over!

My friend named a 44 for me. I pulled it out and he said "jesus" so I said "sure that sounds like a good name" then I showed him the longer one and said "and this is big brother".
So it became a joke to say to a bad guy "Jesus is whatching you" or "big brother is whatching".

Other than that, no

Only one,a Thompson/Center Contender. Its a 444 Marlin,16 in BBL pistol that I call my"Thunderbolt Wrist Slapper"

I only ever named one and she belongs to someone else. She is a 3 digit Single Six with an extremely red hue to the frame as sometimes happened to the bluing on the early guns. I named her "Ol' Rosey" and every now and then I check back in on Rosey just to see if she is still doing OK and whether or not she might be ready to leave the old man and come live with me.

I'm not strange, I only name my handguns!

4" Ruger Security Six .357- Billy
2-3/4" Ruger Security Six .357- Junior
2" Charter Arms .38- Princess
Ruger P90 .45- Thumper
Ruger P94 9mm- Slim
Glock 17 9mm- Arnold
4" S&W 19 .357- Angelina
2" S&W 37 .38- Peewee
3" Rohm .22 Short- Mutt

I've only named one...my Old Vaquero .44mag 4 5/8 barrel. I call it Matilda after my 80 year grandmother. She's a tough Texan that's short, loud, and they don't make'em like her anymore.
