This is one firearm I will never trade off or sell. This neat little Mk II Stainless Standard was given to me as a retirement gift when I retired out of Air Force Special Operations in '93. The friend who gave it to me was a fellow Sensor Operator on AC-130H Spectre Gunships, and had served with me on our crew during Desert Storm.

Over the years, I have added an LPA adjustable rear sight and had a gunsmith friend make a serrated ramp front sight for it. It now wears a set of older Ajax laminated walnut finger-groove grips I have modified to fit my hand. To say it's a "tack-driver" is an understatement! This pistol will put 10 shots in an area a quarter can cover at 15 yards! I have always been amazed at this pistol's accuracy, and continue to be.

I know I will always be able to put meat on the table with this pistol!

Welcome to the Forum.
Thank you for your service.
My MKII Target has the 6 7/8 tapered barrel and also is very, very accurate.

Thanks! And serving my country for 22 years was both an honor and a privilege.

I keep looking at a 6 7/8" barrel Target Model and wanting one...guess I'll have to break down and get one someday!

From a fellow USAF retiree (1Oct94), welcome aboard and congrats on your fine little pistol.

9X19,

Nice! I like that one! Thinking of getting a MkIII 22/45 with a 4.5" barrel.

Thanks rwc53 for your service and sacrifice to our country. That's a sweet little pistol you have there.

Anytime you want to trade grips and rear sights, let me know! I might even throw in the holster

And thank you 9x19 for your sacrifice and service.

I have the same great little pistol with a fixed rear sight!

back at you ranger1.

I had a great career and would do it all over again, but I do enjoy living outside the whim of HQ. :D

It's interesting, I ran across these old Ajax grips still in their original bubble pack in a little gun shop in Victoria, Texas, run by an older gentleman. He and I got to talking guns and what-not, and I found out he was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He found out I was retired myself and told me he'd sell them to me for $25. Can't beat that! I thanked him greatly for the good deal, and for his service.

Bill, that fine Mk II looks like it would be great for small game hunting, as well as plinking! About 6 months ago, a buddy of mine in Texas killed a 200# hog with an earshot from his long-barreled Mk II...I guess it's all in where you put the shot!

Hey rwc53,

Very nice pistola, I can see why you could only have it
pried from your cold dead hands!

You should drop on over to the RimfireCentral.com web site
and post the pictures of it on the " Some...I'd NEVER part with"
thread that can be found in the Mark I sub-forum.

Be nice and share.

I do! It works great for me, and is easy to pack when I'm out in the field.

Doc, I will do that. I'm a member over there as well.
