Blackhawk
Today I fired the first handloads I ever made for my Super Redhawk 44 Magnum. They are actually the first handloads I have ever done...period. I used the bulk 240g .429 JSP bullets from first class bullets and brass dot com for all my handloads. I did 48 of them over 19g of 2400 and 12 over 23.5g of Lil'Gun. While I did not expect them to group as bad as a shotgun with a spinner choke, the groups I got exceeded my expectations. All groups were fired from a rest at 10 yards.
In the top picture, I used only 5 rounds.
The flyer in my Lil'Gun group was due to the way I put the gun on the rest. I shoot with Iron Mike Golf at least once a week and he uses a Gorilla rest. Since I was shooting at the lower half of a Thompson Trouble Shooter target, I had to tilt the revolver downwards which meant only the front of the barrel rested on the bags compared to the first group which had the entire barrel resting on the bags.
But since Jeff is a far more experienced shooter than I am, I figured he could get even smaller groups. When he shot the other 6 Lil'Gun loads and brought the target back, I was completely impressed! I honestly thought my very first handloads would not shoot this well!!!
Darn, I'm hooked!!!
