I'd be happy to have my high-school Monte back. Sadly, the pics I took of mine back in the day have gone missing, but this car from one of the auction sites is a close match to it. Only difference is that the car in the photo is a SS 454 version, while mine "only" had the 402. It was still plenty fast, and had pretty much all the other options. :)

Never owned a muscle car. Mostly I liked motorcycles. Norton Commando was my favorite. If I had the opportunity to own a muscle car it would be the Ford Cobra 427 or the GT40.

That add must have bee late 68 or 69, low miles noted. But in my area in '72 or 3 nice used muscle would be be priced in the mid to high teens. Vettes, Hemi's & Shelby's a few hundred more.

Try calling a business that is nearby that address. I did that once and found out about the original business had gone out of business...

I had a few muscle cars back in the day. The prices listed in the ad are really great now but back in the day, most of us made significantly lower income and the prices would have been high back then. I bought my third car, a 1965 Mustang GT Fastback 3 speed in 1969 for $600.00. It had a couple small bodywork issues and I re-painted it within the first year but it was a very reliable and fun car. So, different times, different financial.

I've had quite a few collectable cars over the years and now, in retirement, I still have 2. A 1972 Cutlass 442 with a 455, Outside Air Induction, Tubo 400 with Hurst dual gate among the options. I've owned it 24 years and just finally painted it this year. I also have a stock 1976 Corvette that was my cousin's. I bought it after he passed away.

I had a '64 Pontiac GTO convertible bought new and kept it for 3 years. Traded it for a Catalina due to needed the space for a baby.

Mine was a'71 Demon 340. The little graphic of the demon with a pitchfork had my mom thinking I'd bought a devil car. Well that thing would bedevil 350 Novas pretty regularly. Stocker, of course. I was like that town in Wisconsin that is pronounced 'me no money'.

'Way back in the day, my next-door neighbor guy gave me a ride in his '62 Vette, convertible. I still consider it the prettiest car ever made, and would give "I don't know what" to get one today.

My first muscle car was a 70 SS Nova in 1975 and kept it for 3 years. Bought my 66 GTO hardtop w/ 3x2s and his&hers shifter TH400 3:55 post in 85 and still have it. Bought my 69 GTO convertible w/RAIII and TH400 in 91 and still have it too, unfortunately both of the Goats are currently needing work to get them back on the road but now that I’m retired they are on the top of my to do list.
