Movies I've watched over and over

I love the movies. I always have, going back to when I was 5 years old and my Mom took me with her to the movies because baby sitters were too expensive. That's not to say I love all movies. Sometimes movies, even acclaimed films, leave me totally cold (like one of the nominees for this year's Academy Awards for best picture, the film "Roma" that I was bored to death and still wonder what it was really about). But looking through my collection of DVD's I recognize that there are some films that I have watched, and will watch, over and over and enjoy them every time. I certainly know how they end but I get almost the same pleasure seeing them for the 5th or 10th time that I did the first. So I am not claiming that this is a list of Best Movies Ever, or anything like that, but the following films are ones that I have watched at least 5 times, probably more, and believe there is something truly special about a movie that can be watched, and watched and watched again with pure pleasure. So in no particular order, here are ten movies that I will never get rid of because I am sure that I will watch them many more times yet:

Fargo
Field of Dreams
The Godfather
Jaws
Moonstruck
The Red Violin
Down and Out in Beverly Hills
Alien
Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Road Warrior

What are the movies that you watch over and over?

Bullitt
The Getaway
Animal House
Dirty Harry
The Outlaw Josie Wales
A Bridge Too Far
The Bridges at Toko-Ri
Assault on Precinct 13
Serenity (and Firefly)
Ronin

The Bridges at Toko-Ri

Not a movie I watch repeatedly, but one of the earliest movie memories I have. Mom took me to see it at a matinee when it first hit our town way back then, she a big William Holden fan. Left an impression on me. I've seen it once since then, and it still impresses me.

I like Denzel Washington so I watch his movies when I get a chance.
Man on Fire
American Gangster
Equalizer
Equalizer 2
Book of Eli
The Green Mile
True Grit, I actually like the second one better.
Tombstone
Open Range
Jeremiah Johnson
Gran Torino
I really like The Mule, and suspect I'll watch it when ever it comes on.
Unforgiven, one of the best westerns ever made.
In the Line of Fire
Monte Walsh
The Sackets don't see it on tv very often but it was good.
We Were Soldiers.
No Country for Old Men. Watched it again the other night.
That's a good start, there are others I just can't think of right now.

It was one of the movies George Lucas watched repeatedly before making Star Wars.

The Professionals
Death Hunt
Valdez is Coming
First Blood
Jeremiah Johnson
Mountain Men
Most Eastwood westerns
Tremors
Once Upon a Time in the West

The submarine movies such as Hunt for Red October and U-571. The others, but I’m not good at names...

Also Movies by Quinten Tarintino (spelling) such as Pulp Fiction or Jackie Brown. I suppose it’s Samuel Jackson. Who I think is 70 or 71 years old. Last weekend my wife and I had a good laugh about Samuel Jackson in the old folks home, wondering how he would talk when finding out there is no more pudding for dessert.

Think old actors have favorite lines from their movies? They must...

Oh, also, James Bond movies. They are worth watching again and again.

There's a bunch. Probably seen Josie Wales more than any. All the Clint and Duke movies, Charles Bronson, Tombstone, Quigley Down Under, Taps, Patton, Full Metal Jacket. Funny, I can't hardly stand to watch a new movie, but I will watch one's I have seen over and over!

The attacks on the bridges and the secondary target were some of the best special air effects ever.

A few of mine:

Excalibur
Braveheart
LA Confidential
Silverado
RED/RED 2
John Wick I & II
Serenity
John Carpenter's The Thing
Alien/Aliens (they should have stopped after two)
Terminator/Terminator 2, Judgment Day (again, they should have quit while they were ahead)
The Outlaw Josey Wales (and pretty much anything else with Clint Eastwood)
The Mechanic (and pretty much anything else with Charles Bronson)
Prime Cut (and pretty much anything else with Lee Marvin)
Outland (and pretty much anything else starring Sean Connery except for that horrible Zardoz movie - see below)
Die Hard
Blade Runner

Yeah, about that last: We could have had the cool dystopian 2019 of Blade Runner, with flying cars and attack ships off the shoulder of Orion and androids that looked like Rutger Hauer and Darryl Hannah. Instead, we got the dystopian 2019 of Zardoz where freaky men dress up like women and dare the rest of us to be offended. Sigh.

Open Range
We Were Soldiers Once
Tombstone
Unforgiven
Outlaw Josie Wales
Heartbreak Ridge
Quigley Down Under
The Searchers
True Grit (John Wayne)
Apollo 13
I am partial to Heartbreak Ridge because, when I was a First Sergeant, I had Troop Commander just like the Major, that came over from Supply. Totally worthless as a Commander but possibly would have been good in Supply.

Fox Mike {when I was a First Sergeant, I had Troop Commander just like the Major, that came over from Supply. Totally worthless as a Commander but possibly would have been good in Supply.}

That was a great line in the movie.

An american werewolf in london.... best movie ever....
Ninja cheerleaders is another fav... many say it was Geoge Takei's best roll... he may have won an oscar if only the movie hadn't been released to thumb drive first... sorry George...
I also watch the "Batman movie", quite a bit.. it's a classic!

But then ..... I don't get out much!.... :)

Not in any particular order:
The Bridge on the River Kwai...I hear that whistling every time I hear the title.
Hondo
The Shootist...one of the few movies I recall with a gun safety lesson.
The Great Escape...a friend and his brothers excavated about a two cubic yards of dirt reenacting the soil dump before their parents knew what happened.
Gone With The Wind...my Grand Mother took me to see this in 1961. I was afraid a train would come through the Atlanta rail yard and run over all the wounded. Didn't realize the CSA didn't have trains anymore.
Stalag 17
The Dam Busters

With every other post I read ones I can't believe I forgot & there will be more. But I simply have to add;

Bond, James Bond
The Getaway 1 & 2
Bullit
Quigley
Terminator 1 & 2
Predator

Quite a few already mentioned here like:

Serenity.
Field of Dreams.
Alien/Aliens.
The Outlaw Josey Wales.
The Great Escape.
The Trinity Trilogy with Terence Hill and Bud Spencer, although Spencer was not in My Name is Nobody. There is a 4th western with the two of them along the same theme with them as brothers named The Fight Before Christmas or Troublemakers.

My husband's favorite would be The Spirit of St Louis with Jimmy Stewart and he is also a big fan of Das Boot in the 6 part 5 hour mini series.

In no particular order:

She Wore a Yellow Ribbon
McClintock
The Quiet Man
The Best Years of our Lives
Grand Hotel
Queen Christina
Ninotchka
Flesh and the Devil
All Quiet on the Western Front
Double Indemnity
Casablanca
Murder, My Sweet

I could go on... ;)

think about the query, I realized I now have attention deficit as I can't watch that long.

But when I could, a couple that I enjoyed over and over were
The Gods must be crazy
The Ghost and the Darkness

Now, a movie that I watch when it come on HBO, etc and proves I am going crazy is
The Avengers
I watch that boring movie hoping that it morphs into something reminiscent of the real Ms Peele and Johnathan
