Mountain Gun 44

Well, that's ok to pass on that cartridge. Semi-auto cartridges should be shot in semi-auto pistols... Now if it was .45 Colt on the other hand ... then yes .... :) .
Rclark, that was the main reason I traded it. It was a fun gun to shoot at the range but moon clips are, for me, a pain in the a$$! I wasn't into reloading at the time so that put the 45 Auto Rim out of the picture. Had I been reloading it might have stayed around. Who knows? I get to missing the fun of it but not the work of the moon clips.

Rclark or anyone who has an N FRAME .45acp try the 1/2 moon clips. They are much easier than full moons. Of course they won’t help with accuracy issues.

Thanks @JackBull

I was blissfully unaware they were making No lock Mountain guns again.

I bought the .357 & .44 have the 10mm on order and waiting to more .22’s to become available.

These are really nice guns.

What did you decide?

After waiting 16 weeks for a 617 Mtn. Gun I decided to get my underlugged 617 out & shoot it. Knew before I started that I wouldn't likely shoot the MG as well & was tired of waiting. Called the gun shop & told them to cancel if they wanted too. When they said they would keep the order open & just stock it it it ever came in. Then I got weak & asked them to call me if it ever came as I'd like first look. Been 19 weeks now, closing in on 20.
Eviled mentions them unavailable at this time & I'm thinking that the allotted number of them was never filled. Only seen pics of a few & none ever on GB.
A bottle neck somewhere, But strangely, Tyler, that's doing the custom grips for Smith & a special run of Ruger BH's had a ton of trouble with the all over the place dimensions of the Ruger grip frames & is now purchasing some of the Rugers to hand fit his grips individually to each gun, then sell. Wondering if this mees is interfering with Tyler gripped S&W's? Just thoughts.
Glad all the buyers of other calibers got theirs. I'm pretty happy with my 686.

I also have a full lug 617 so I’m not heartbroken about the 617MG. I just wanted to complete the set.

Now I am curious, what the back story is. It really seems very very few were released. Maybe they will fix the issue and make a run of them.

The original run of 617 MGs was 42 units! This second run may be even smaller?

If anyone hears anything please post it.

I had no idea they made these in rimfire.

Yep, pretty cool!

Jim Stroh used to build them out of full lug 617's with a relined model 66 barrel. Pretty cool to finally see them in production.

I got the 44 mag-357-45LC-45 acp/AR in the first runs......Got 617 Mtn gun a couple of months ago......I want the 10mm mtn gun but I have a 4 in 610 already.
Included is a 4 in 624 .44 spl.. Which is the exact same gun except for the unbeveled cylinder.
